I was MEH about s42 but this got me pretty hyped. You can tell they're really passionate about this. If people still cry "scam" after this con have no idea what they're talking about

Wow, what a journey of over a decade to get here. The fact that static server meshing is shown to work is industry-changing. Watching this journey since 2015 unfold and being a part of it in a small way has been amazing. The amount of pain, blood, sweat, and tears that Chris, the development teams, and the backers of this game have had to drudge through is epic. The fact that we the backers stuck with this project for so long is a miracle in itself. Now that the massive resources of SQ42 move over to focusing on the PU we will see the tech implementation accelerate. Chris is right about that; a ton of the tech is ready to be implemented into the game and in 24 months I honestly feel like they will nail down Dynamic server meshing and the game will explode into one of the greatest MMORPGs of all time.

Chris is already to me on the same level as Kojima , he may be dorkier and less stoic but this man had that vision no one else has

Been holding the line since October 11th, 2012. There is still some work to do and I hope it has a compelling story and releases as polished as possible but wow did that video make me proud to be a backer. Seeing it all come together and that the potential is actually there for this game to be really something special was just incredible. This was the game I was hoping for when I backed 11 years ago.

Such an amazing time at Citizencon this year. Them implementing the faces they made just hours before presenting this was incredible. Next year or two will be extremely exciting for Star Citizen. I will attend every Citizencon I possibly can after this. It will be hard for IAE to top this. Right?

I feel so weird these last two days, this feeling that the thing I've invariably believed in for the past 12 years is actually possible, and advanced well further than what I hoped. I'm now fully liberated of the doubt and self-questioning that every SC backer should have. I know they're making it happen now, there is no ambiguity left. They are crushing the video game industry, and even if they need 3 times the time they announced I'm confident and reassured. We didn't wait in vain, the 3y we spent in darkness were completely and utterly brutally justified in my eyes by the sheer amount of never seen before tech and polish they showed off at CitizenCon. Locations are starting to look as good as full fledged games, spaceships are soon ascending to the rank of full fledged game levels, the map could be it's own city building interface, and will be basically a better google maps, in a game. I just can't play another game after this, my mind is completely blown. Bright days ahead citizens o7

I myself don't see myself as an hardcore Star Citizen fan, but I've stayed in touch with their content since 2013 If I remember correctly. And there has been moments where I started losing hope. Cloud Imperium Games turned the tables around this spesific day that they are on their own and this is how a videogame should look like with no limits.

This is amazing. Being a person that just love these space games, this blew my mind and I had to constantly remind myself to close my mouth 🤣 As soon as you mentioned the game "Bad Company 2" I immediately went and play the game once again. All in all, this Star Citizen is getting better and better. I'm loving in. I appreciate your time and your content. ✌

Earlier on the showed a bunch of squares or different colors indicating vehicles released, vehicles in the backlog, and vehicles that will release by the end of the year. There were 12 ships that CIG is saying they will release by the end of the year. They also said all 3 Idris variants along with the Scythe, Glaive and Blade will release with Squadron 42. They also showed a video with a bunch of vehicle silhouettes of vehicles they are actively working and said those will release with in the next 12 months. In that video there was the Origin X1, a Ursa variants, the RSI Zeus, the Retaliator, and the RSI Polaris. From that I inferred that SQ42 will be in our hands by Christmas 2023. They never said how long they have been polishing SQ42. They could have started polish phase last week. They may have been polishing it for the last 6 months. It looked pretty polished to me. They have the rest of the cast to finish updating, which may not take that long considering how fast they got the characters created by Shawn Tracy into the SQ42 demo. The player character looked like he needed updating in some of that too, but again that may have been old footage and may not matter with the updates to the character creator (see previous sentence). Anyway, that is all I got. You can probably ignore me. All of my prior predictions about releases have been wrong.

That precision aiming is 100% inspired by Starfield's subsystem target mode, it's sooooo similar, but more freeform and just better. Star Citizen is like The Borg, it seeks out new code that contains useful or cool things, and just assimilates it and reforms it into something better. Star Tomb Raider. Star Assassins Creed. Star Squad. Star Half-Life. Star DCS World. Star Starfield. God damn Chris.

I feel that for the most of this year, my morale for star citizen was down, and even last citizen cons were not that great, those felt more like they were telling about the features and what they were working on, this citizen con feels different, like they are showing the progress and the work they had done for star citizen, and then this drops.

MY FAITH IN RSI HAS BEEN GREATLY RESTORED. God they could spend 2 more years polishing this and I'd be completely fine this looks amazing, and I can't wait to see the finished product. This is everything starfield wishes it could be and more. Bravo!

I have to say, I was impressed with this CitCon. They presented what they’ve been working on and what their intentions are going forward. There was hardly any “what might be”, or “possibly”. They showed mostly working models or prototypes. And lastly, ships were, for the first time, the low point of the convention. It didn’t feel like a huge space ship sales pitch (but maybe an engine sales pitch). The only thing I wish we could have seen….. Tony Z….. what is happening with the 3rd pillar???

They got a hell of bunch of Hollywood actors and actresses for this game. FPS and space combat part way better than starfield. The two things I need to worry about are optimisation and bugs.

The hilarious thing is that during this entire astonishing Citizencon, there were "First message" streaming into their livechat of people just regurgitating "Not impressive at all" and "500 million and still alpha omegalul". People are just stupid. These 2 days proved beyond a shadow of a doubt what the game will become, and soon. I dont think CR himself could have even dreamed of a better situation to be in right now.

I think the most surprising thing for people in SQ42 (especially "reviewers"), will be that its not just a fun cool pew pew space cowboy shooter. It's emotional, its dealing with real people and their struggles through overwhelming odds. Not dissimilar to what made Baldur's Gate 3 so well recieved. In Star Citizens whole history every "game journalist" is just focusing on the graphics, the bugs, the release date, the funding. They will be utterly surprised by the feels-moments in the game, i think.

One of the most grounbreaking things I've seen as far as I can rememeber. GTA3 and it's open world was one of the last times I can recall saying, "I can't believe I'll be able to play that". We need a game like this so badly.

I just wish they would add helm presence in 1st person. Such things as, if u have a huddle helm on the view would look like titan fall when youre in side a mech. Or the presence of when parts should be visible they would cross or be seen in view while wearing it. For a sim that would feel more immersive

I remember 2016. Early 2025 sounds right.

It was a touching moment seeing CR get emotional. It’s easy to bash him and CIG, but this does show they’ve been working their arses off for a long time, and we at last get to see some of the output after 4yrs of radio silence. They brought this on themselves by not showing us more sooner, but at least now we can all agree that Squadron 42 looks spectacular, and potentially could be the greatest space game ever made. I hope they take the time needed to polish and clear bugs, so that the release is successful - they must not risk a Cyberpunk type launch, as they don’t have the rep of CDPR to weather such a storm.

It is mind blowing... how is that even possible.. game technologists have overtaken time. Ten years have passed, there were scandals, disappointments and broken promises, but if what I saw in this video is true and soon we will see the promised content in Stra Citizen , then I can only say that the ten years were worth the wait and worth every euro I donated to support this project. I can't wait to see the faces of the people who said I'm an idiot, that this game is crap and a scam. And the faces of KZfaqrs who said that such game technologies are not possible today. Star Citizen and Squadron 42 is a huge hit to crap AAA game studios, because finally people will see what games should be, how they should look and what technologies are possible and what Next Gen really means. I still laugh at the meme about StarField where Todd talks about the game and says it's a Next Gen pc game :D

I have not yet had the chance to watch everything. I actually only saw the last 2 live videos from you. Did Citizencon mention anything about brining in animals like the sand worms, or giant spiders, dogs, cats, monkeys whatever into the verse? I would love to see a planet/moon with some life on it that is more than just some AI in a bunker.

I am an absolute sucker for bagpipes and drums. And also for space. So.. yeah, kinda levitated above my chair during first minutes. Looks great, but keep your hype in check boys, still have some years to wait.

I don't know how much money they made from it and how much they will earn. But due to the recent releases (90% made of sh*t) in the past years from video game industries, I want to make sure the development continues. To expand. In the PU or something else. I want to make sure that money would not be a problem to achieve this massive goal. Call me naive but anyway... I am totally willing to pay 10 or 15€ a month to play... just like I did for Wow for soooo many years. Except Blizzard did us all wrong.... I did my part, I held the line, and i am willing to hold it as much as possible if they can give us THE game, we've all dreamed for. It's more than a game. Star Citizen has a true potentiel, a true base where producers / creators, pro or private, would be able to offer us not just a game, but maybe series, TV shows, Movies, fan made short films, books, etc... THIS is my dream of Star Citizen Fly safe citizens o7

My guess is November 2024 for release. Might be optimistic but like Olli said, it looks close.

S42 is as much of a reason as the PU for why I pledged back in 2012. the single player campaign I might be more interested in in a more immediate sense. I loved the old wing commander, Start lancer and freelancer games. And the story and worldbuilding put into those games I largely credit to Chris, that is why I got myself a Conny way back then, as a "here is my money" type deal. But lets be honest, with the amount of $$ the game CIG has collected there is no way to not get a great game as an end result. Bar an actual scam. Chris is not a scammer though, a poor manager, perhaps. To much of a kid in a candy store when it comes to "can we do this" idea's in games. It is why he was removed from Freelancer, if he had been allowed to resume work on it, it would no doubt have been even better in the end. So now here we are, nearing completion of the first part of a sci fi story with all the tropes over the top situations and silly exposition you can handle, and if you look at this type of stuff as an outside observer it may look silly and goofy but when playing that stuff it does give you the nice thrill ride it is meant to be. Here is hoping the "Polish" phase does not take too long and the game releases early to mid next year.
