Visions of Mana is a brand new title in this series revolving around the sacred sword and mana.
Val, the protagonist, and his childhood friend Hinna, the newly appointed Alm of Fire, set off on a journey to the Mana Tree. Visions of Mana is now available for pre-order on PS5™, PS4™, Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC via Windows and Steam®.
Launching August 29th 2024.

Had very fond memories playing Secret of Mana co-op with my twin brother growing up, who passed away almost 7 years ago. This game looks to have 90s Squaresoft written all over it.

You know I didn't like it that much when I was a kid, but I got the remaster anyway and it's great. Idk why I didn't like it as much when I was younger. It's an extremely charming and fun game 👌

Same here. I play the remaster on the switch and let my kids read and do voices for different characters. My brothers and I used to have 1v1 tournaments in the basement of the palace in GEO. The only thing I would ever change about OG LoM is to make the first play through harder since you have to beat it before you get Nightmare and No Future mode. Secrets and hidden dialog everywhere. Used to carry our memory cards no matter who's house we were at.

I have but I'm still not sure IF this ones jobs also uses the Skill point PER lving up system though by lv 99 you should be able to max out all the jobs.

I remember renting Secret of Mana as a kid from Blockbuster Video, locking myself in my room for the weekend and drifting in fantasy world. I can still recall the sounds and music. Amazing game.

For me it's probably #3 after Trails through Daybreak (releases early next month) and Ys 10 (as long as this one doesn't get delayed it's supposed to release this fall). I will say the plot sounds like a complete rip off of Terry Brook's 1982 book: The Elfstones of Shannara...hoping it doesn't end the same way though and does something different. Imo SE would be better off making more games like this/Octopath as they're probably making a profit (maybe not a ridiculous one) with cheaper games like this than their bigger projects like FF/Avengers/Forspoken/etc...even Dragon Quest may be a bit too big for it's own good with 11's length/scale/graphics tbh (probably cheaper than FF but the series also doesn't bring in as many customers (at least day 1 customers) as FF. Cause the thing is main story driven jrpgs have a hard cap of about 4 million or so potentially buyers (plus or minus a million casual players that just give one of these games a shot when waiting for other games when normally they'd pass over it) cause unfortunately most gamers play almost solely for gameplay and not story and don't have the attention span to last an entire 50+ hour long jrpg...and of the jrpgs that will hit that 3 to 4 million cap the only ones that actually will for the most part are just Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, occasionally Tales, Persona, and maybe Dragon Quest...and the first 2 are the only ones that are likely to always hit the 3 million minimum...all others in the industry (not just SE's) will be lucky to hit about 1 to 1.5 million in the first few years. So quite frankly if SE/most story dirven jrpg devs (well larger devs anyway, smaller/indie devs may need to go much lower wit their budget) were smart they'd be budgeting the game with at most 1 million sales in mind so if that can't make them a profit they're fine with they'd have to seriously reconsider making story driven jrpgs as if they want to make large amounts of money they'd need to go into either the fps genre or open world rpg genre that's focused more on created avatars and gameplay rather than cinematic cutscene storytelling (Souls, Skyrim, etc design of games in terms of storytelling). With all that said...the remakes on PSP/Vita (Adventures of Mana and Secret of Mana) were quite frankly not that good at all and I'd probably say the OG games were better than the remakes lol. Trials of Mana Remake was great though and Legends is as good as ever...haven't played the PS2 Mana game (Sword of Mana I think?) granted read the wikipedia synopsis and boy is that story depressing...here's hoping Visions doesn't go that route.

One of my greatest childhood memory was playing Secret of Mana in my home during a rainy weekend. I felt the world of Mana come to life. Battling monsters in the forests and caves, and exploring towns and talk to people. Whenever its cloudy and raining, i get nostalgic of playing this game in the comfort of my home in the 90's. I remember buying the official strategy guide. Its pages in black and white and i read it constantly and thats how my English became better and better. I owe this game so much.

That's sincerely the best looking game I've ever seen. Art pops in the OG way and you've beautiful, lovely fields. And yeah, Secret of Mana was important to me too. I played it a couple of years after it came out as a rental, couldn't find it anywhere to buy my mom eventually tracked one down at a pawn shop and I got it for my Birthday. I think that was my favorite gift I ever got.

For me the plot sounds very much like a carbon copy of Terry Brooks 1982 book: The Elfstones of Shannara more so than Symphonia...granted all 3 have the idea that the main female will go on a journey that leads to her own sacrifice though (whether or not it ends with it I'll keep silent on for anyone that never played Symphonia/read Elfstones...as for Visions we'll see in August (well September as with how late it releases most peopel won't finish it by Augusts's end).

I used to play secret of mana every weekend in coop with my cousin on snes - man gold old times.. I played Seiken Densetsu 3 extensively on an emulator because it was impossible to get back then in Germany. Later bought it for mobile. Can’t wait for this release - nostalgia hits hard with this one.
