@@peterhughes614 yes it was amazing.. but for me hearing eggshell (and near-everything-else on the first "artificial intelligence" compilation) was more of the 'holy fucking shit' moment i had been consciously seeking, actively anticipating for about ten years before that. the world needed a lot more wacky computer music right then. i did anyhow. :)

I purchased a vinyl record a few days ago with no label other than "Squarepusher" on the inner circle. I'd heard of Squarepusher before, but I had no idea what was on the record. I took a gamble and spent $12 on it.. All that was on the record was this single track. Best $12 I ever spent.

I picked my just-turned-four-year-old up from preschool and she got in the car talking about wanting to watch Pinkaliscious when we got home because that’s what the two little girls in her class like and she wants the cultural literacy to bond with them over their interests (she longs for their friendship). But she also wanted to sit in the car and listen to this song on repeat with our very good speakers because she is already an audiophile with extremely broad taste. I told her no screen time or load music inside after dinner, so we’d better go in if she wanted to get some Pinkaliscious in before dinner and she said she no she just wants to hear more Squarepusher. I hope she isn’t too lonely as she grows up.

I remember buying this on CD in 2002 and listening to it on my Sony Walkman (lol) walking through Dublin, Ireland and I never forget the feeling of euphoria and feeling that my day had just been hijacked and changed by music that tickled somewhere in my brain I had never had access to before. 21 years later and I am still listening to it and its still just as fresh

MegaCnlSanders Lunice, Hudson Mohawke, TNGHT(collaboration of of those two mentioned), and I don't know any other trap artists. I'd recommend Flosstradamus but I think they suck. Though IDM is a cool genre as well, like Aphex Twin and Autechre.

This track changed Dn'B / IDM forever... the bar had been raised! . I remember the excitement of being at the record distro and pulling a stack of white labels and throwing them down for a listen... only to notice the words . "Squarepusher - WAP155" on the sleeve. WELL... when I put it on... Mind = Blown ! . I bought the entire stack for the shop I ran at the time... and kept 3 copies for myself. Years later... still my favorite.

Wow, I've been looking for this music for a long time. This was actually heard from a rare Cartoon Network Nood bumper. I wish I can remember specifically what the bumper was, but the music always stuck with me.

This tune was uncomparable to anything that 12 yrs ago. It knocked me down. There were some Autechre and Apex Twin attempts to make music that touches soul, but they were far from this. It's a pity Squarepusher got that musical path so hard to follow now (like Venetian Snares and many others)

Definitely think you should give Aphex Twin's "Vordhosbn", and "Gweley Mernans" another listen-to. I just stumbled upon this and it definitely "touches the soul". So do those two, and yet they're still very complex and even aggressive at times.

Tom Jenkinson is obviously a mad music genius. But why does it sometime feel like he wants to torture its listeners. This guy must be some kind of electronicmusic rainman. I have never heard anything so unique and sofisticated as squarepusher. He could have his own genre. Squarestep, hehe. No. This music is so much moe advanced than all STEP music i have ever listened to. And it is also so old. It came out in 2002.
