Why does PJ say at the end of the vid that Momen has an unorthodox style? I can't see anything particularly unorthodox about the way he plays nowadays.

In one game(I think he was playing with Shabana) PJ said he is the most difficult player to coach. He had his own style and rarely changes. I think that is what he meant

@@ghawatzhusten3368 he has a flatter/top swing on the backhand, keeps the racquet way out in front, plays looots of super soft drops w no pace, and is incredibly fast. these things are uncommon therefore unorthordox.

I don't see why the point was awarded to Farag at 18:03. Even Momen conceded it. Can someone provide any reasonable explanation?

Quick question: why is it that every match’s umpire talks in English even when both players are Egyptian?
@DavidBazalar
@DavidBazalar 5 жыл бұрын
Only a minor part of the world audience speaks/understands Arabic. We are using English to communicate here (English is not my first language). For example let's look at Tennis, even if you don't speak English (and of course you enjoy the game), you know what an ace, lob, drive,... is. You might not know how to write it correctly. There are cases of complete amalgamation like in Football. In South America, we use our very own words. How did that happen? One factor: one, two-syllables are easier to stick in our brain. Translations/new words cannot compete. Another is time.

Farag hit the ball back onto an body obstructed line that interferred with Momens direct path to the ball. Farag needed to make a greater effort to move out of the way. With the weighting of his (Farags) own shot, Momen couldn't go around left (for long) or right (short) and so was effectively blocked. This rules as a strike against Farag.

Too bad that the full match isn't up here...but that happens on any number of occasions with PSA SQUASHTV. And is it just me or do the refs and even the commentators at times just get it all wrong on the 'no let' or 'stroke' decision. These two guys are playing a good clean match and it seems that some decisions that are made are made from 'the rule book' and not from the actual ebb and flow of the game. Back in the day before the 'game' was cleaned up in this area, the refs sometimes had a hell of a job keeping things flowing with the belligerent attitude of players, now it is a lot easier with video playback and a code of conduct that can be enforced. But still(to me) there are some absolute howlers of decisions made that detract from an encounter. Admittedly decisions made are not always going to be right, that's human nature, but adhereing to the 'rule book' in this instance seems sometimes to be too arbitrary and 'easy' for the umpire(s).

So instead of following squash rules, the refs should just allow constant interference? The calls were entirely unambiguous in this game.
@stevehughes1510
@stevehughes1510 5 жыл бұрын
No, there wasn't interference as such(crowding etc), there were however no let or stroke decisions as I stated above. The point I'm making is that the ref(s) should be able to make decisions based on the actual situation, which are mostly different in each case and not invoke an arbitrary rule from the rule book.
