In fact, if you read the lyrics, there's a part where it says "This is my beautiful house and I can't afford to live in it". Which I believe is a reference to Talking Heads' song, Once in a Lifetime. Even XTC, where there's a part that it said "We're still making plans for Nigel"

I'd recommend looking into Don Cherry. He played this instrument, the cornet, as well as an even smaller one called a pocket trumpet.
