If I could only sing half as good as you Freya I would be happy. It took weeks for me to lay down a vocal track worthy of keeping. I'm getting better but this video shows me how little I know about singing.

You answered equation or 2 I couldn't find the answer to. You solved couple mysteries and sang well to show the answers. Thank you Going to church now thanking God the father Jesus the son and the sweet holy spirit for your video gift of excellence.

Most tenors sing with chest and middle voice , while overtones , and high resonance produces squillo.

Hi Freya, did I miss the word twang in your video? I've not heard you explain twang before. My vocal coach uses it a lot and I wondered why you don't. Thank you for all that you do. x

How interesting! I only learnt about harmonics and overtones to the voice today and now I'm wondering: Can a voice be too overtone heavy? As in it sounding too one-dimensional when singing higher? I feel like I'm losing some depth when going higher, maybe even sounding childlike (I know you have videos on this) and wonder if it's a characteristic of my (female) vocal cords or if I can work on "adding" more undertones.

Great video! Thank you! Still I am not sure is pitch as same as tone, or "pitch" means "tone+something"?

You are spreading some misinformation here. Even if we, as singers, feel simpathetic vibrations on the chest it doesn't mean the sound resonates on the chest, it doesn't. And you are talking about different things as if it were the same thing. Squillo and twang are not the same thing and work veeeery differently. What creates twang is a narrowing of the aryepiglotic sphincter that makes the larynx narrow and the vocal folds have more compression without necessarily being the cricothyroid muscles the ones that bring them together. To achive squillo though, you need to make the vocal folds come together with the cricothyroid muscles wich are what allow chest voice to be developed (as you see it has nothing to do with chest resonance), and without narrowing the larynx. To have squillo not only the overtones have to be amplified, the fundamental pitch is also amplified. The example you used to show squillo didn't have squillo, you need a chricothyrod dominant production and a low larynx to have squillo wich wasn't the case. When having squillo the vowels are crisp and clear, wich wasn't the case either. To me you didin't do any specific sound through all the video that wasn't nasal.

Sunsun DKS if you lift the soft palate you can’t make a nasalized sound. The soft palate has to lower so that the voiced signal can flow through the nose

You”ve said that you could sing for over five hours, but you’ve never said that you could sing for five hours straight. Could you be more specific in your next live video? 5 hours without taking breaks means that you are a god. From what I’ve know is that gods don’t exist, but you could prove me wrong. Please, do so. Explain.

Try singing for 5 hours straight. Your voice will finally be completely warmed up and the next day, you will be amazed by how you sound. ( I discovered this when I went to an all day choir workshop. It was more than 5 hours. All day and a concert that night. If you are singing correctly, it's very good for the voice to have occasional marathons. You won't get good until you sing, constantly, every chance you get.
