dave, I've heard you downplay your abilities before, But I think you're heading into mastery. I've never been interested in a baritone, never understood the draw. You have brought it to life, the density and multi-layered nature of the instrument.

I showed up late for this one (by 8 months 😊) but I sure am glad I found it!

What makes this guitar in particular great is that it's 27 inches in scale which only an inch and a half longer than the standard tele, which means while you have so much more versatility in both tuning down or tuning up to standard, you also don't sacrifice comfortability while playing like you would with a bass vi or gretsch baritone at 30 inches in scale

After watching this, I agree: I need a Squire Classic Vibe Baritone... Order placed! I am (retroactively) enjoying your videos. Your passion is infectious and inspiring. Thanks so much!

What a brilliant, amazing and inspirational video. Your playing was out of this world including those cello sounds with the bow. It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if the sales of baritone guitars go up a bit after this.

Thanks for this video. I had been eying a Gretsch but instead in May 2023 went with a Fender Squire. I play a lot of ambient style guitar with my baritone. The finish blew me away, PURPLE SPARKLE ! Spending some time getting comfortable with my relatively new baritone (Squire Classic Vibe Telecaster FSR Custom baritone 27" scale) which of course came tuned in the standard BEADF#B tuning and Squire puts on .014-.068 gauge round wound strings....but since I have changed to flat wounds (which I prefer and have on all my electrics as they're more comfortable and there's no squeak moving along the fretboard) and gauges .015-.060. I have also discovered some very cool alternate tunings for baritone guitar such as : AEADF#B. or AEADEA (DADGAD equivalent) or GDADEA. or GDGCEA or ADGCEA. Locking tuners, always helpful.

Dave, the first track is reminding me of the Disintegration era of The Cure . They are big Bass VI fans so that's not surprising, especially with the wah pedal and that backing track. Great stuff.

You need more treble with the baritone. The crisp ringing of the strings makes the baritone sound special.

I built a 25.5" scale Firebird with a reverse headstock that play great in B standard using Ernie Ball Mammoth Slinky strings and a Strat with the same strings tuned to C# Standard. Both are great fun!

Sounds awesome as usual Dave. i had been jonesin for a baritone but couldn't justify it without selling one of my other guitars. I had a thrift shop Strat i got for $30 bucks a while ago so i got some D'Addario 13-56 Jazz string ($5). I also had to get new saddles ($15) with longer center holes to address the intonation issues. So far, it's been a complete blast ;)

A mellow Christmas to you Dave. I had a nice Hagstrom Viking baritone, but after a few years I traded it for a 5 string Yamaha bass. Baritone is neither fish nor fowl.

Telecaster bodies are the last type of guitar I would think of having a baritone version, but hey expect the unexpected! Recently saw one Squier tele with P90s, of course that gets some almost humbucker tones out of them at that tuning.

Apropos of not much, if you are running a Baritone Conversion Neck, you get 24 frets to play with, wherever you tune it.

Do you like Sleep? They play C standard all the time. I think you'll like them if you enjoy heavy, slow and fuzzy tones played in C standard.

I have been considering a Baritone for a while now, but I was wondering what you'd make of one. Then suddenly, there you are playing one! However, I wonder if you can persuade Gear4Music to loan you a SubZero Rogue VI Baritone Electric Guitar, which as you probably know is tuned a whole octave below standard. That is REALLY "Into the deep". I might just hang on in there until I see you demo that one and get your opinion. My thinking is that with the "B" Standard Baritone, you only gain a few frets. With the VI you gain an entire 12 frets.... And yet it doesn't just sound like a bass with two extra strings. So far the only KZfaq demos I have found of it are from guys into heavy metal. I suspect it has more to it than that, which I am sure you'd bring out, as you have done with this Baritone in this video. PS I like the cello like sounds you get from using a bow on this one. I wonder what that section would have sounded like using one of those magnetic devices that promise infinite sustain....

I bought a Baritone a couple years ago (a Harley Benton Bass VI copy that I put baritone Strings on) and I knew: Whenever you get your hands on one you will do total awesomeness with it. And you did. Sadly my Baritone is shelfed right now, the pickguard is cut wrong so the neck pickup is placed incorrectly and it irks the bejeezus out of me. But one day I'll have the money to get a pickguard for it made.
