Dear David, everything about this guitar is smooth, standard, correct, like a new instrument. Something will change when the wood finally shrinks and the musical life begins. Now don't guess.

There's a definite difference in how this guitar feels compared to my Fender Strat. I'll be installing my favorite strings to see if that changes anything.

@@anotherheadlessdemo Dear David, my subjective opinion is that there the strings will slightly change the sound, but the reason I hear is the unmanifested nature of the resonance in the wood, this color is only picked up in the vibrations in the strings, but it is secondary. The main thing will be the color of seasoned and very, very dry wood. Guitars that are made from overdried wood for decades have their own voice right from birth. I won't be able to prove it, but all instruments in operation for 4-5 years suddenly acquire a special, their own, unique, recognizable voice. We call it playing the instrument. And the more often it is used, the smoother, more correct and nobler the sound.

I completely agree with what you are saying. This was always said about 1950s era Gibson guitars. The wood was drier and seasoned, hence better sound.

Yesterday I bought a used one just like this- red 60s CV strat from a music store on the other end of the country for 65% of new- apparently has some factory defects in the paint but functionally is in good shape, according to salesperson on the phone. Should arrive in a week or so. Fingers crossed it plays all right and doesn't look too terrible.

Further to my first comment- have had the guitar for a week and everything is great. Can't even notice any blemishes that the sales person noted. You'd have to be looking with a magnifying glass. Only problem is the tremolo system - You have to be a body builder to use the whammy bar!!! Unbelievable! I have a 2019 Chinese made affinity squier strat and it's smooth and easy for light to moderate bends, and even stays in tune. But this 60s vibe is almost unusable because there is so much tension! Are they all like that? Is there a fix? David, help!

@@seconduser1809 Try backing the 6 screws off that holds the term/bridge onto the body. Tighten them all down snug and then back the 2 outside ones out about a half round/back the 4 center one's out about a 1/4 round. That's a good starting point' may have to go a bit more on each one but with equal amount of turn. Then you have the springs which is a another walk through.

Nice one David. What's the measurement you set the string height at the first fret. I like to have .020-.022 although some of my electric guitars have less.

@@anotherheadlessdemo Ok cool. I replaced the nut on a few Strats I have. They come pre slotted. I only checked one so far, it's very low, I think .016 but plays great so no problem with it just to let you know.
