I am from Mangalore, Karnataka, India. We, Mangalore and Goa christians have a baila culture in our marriage function.Atleast 2-3 Sinhalese songs sung for baila dance. We Mangalorians have a strong link with you Sri Lankan Christian people. Love you all.💐💐💐

You are absolutely right, Sir ! I'm married to a Mangalorean from whom musical and cultural traditions Lankan baila music has been enriched. Nearly the same as in Goan Baila music which was inspired by the Portuguese. Lets make more of it and enjoy life to the best in our ancestral culture. /alex .

Yesss it has the same roots in African slaves that were brought to Sri Lanka by the Portuguese so that’s why. Many were from Congo.

I'm from Mangalore, India. 35 years ago a Srilankan friend and colleague of mine gave me an audio tape with non-stop Srilankan Baila songs. It was so nice, I don't know how much I and my family loved it. A relative of mine borrowed the tape and did not return as the tape got damaged because of playing it repeatedly. Srilankan baila and Mangalorean/Goan sonds sound similar because of Portugese influence. Now I go to KZfaq and listen to Srilankan music. Love you Srilanka.

This is not real Sri Lankan music btw, it has just become popular because of European influence in the coastal areas. Now it has become mainstream. But traditional, classical and folk music styles are the real sounds of Sri Lanka.

@@sureshjohnekm lead guitar is the prominent instrument along with fast bass lines in modern bailas. But violin was used heavily in early days specially before 40 then shifted to acoustic guitars in 50s and from 70s its lead electronic. Just wanted share this info and enjoy the music mate.
