I made it exactly the way it was shown in the demonstration and it turned out to be fantastic. It was my very first attempt at this delicacy. Thank you very much for all your lovely contributions to the global community 😊🙏🏽

This's the original way of making Watalappan, also how my mom makes. Pls try this out guys. I've seen in recepies people skip to add a pinch of Salt, you mentioned it dear. Thanks for sharing Sister. Im too a Malay girl. So I know which recepie is the best!! 🤗

A few questions. 1. When watalappam is the correct word, why is it more often referred to as watalappan? 2. Can kithul treacle be used instead of jaggery? 3. Can fresh milk be used in place of coconut milk?
@amanda_dela4 жыл бұрын
As i knw fresh milk cannot b used but condensed milk can.
@fajisfairy3 жыл бұрын
Kithul treacle is not thick as jaggery
@fajisfairy3 жыл бұрын
U cn use fresh milk instead, but the real real real real taste comes when it is made with thick coconut milk
@siyannilam65683 ай бұрын

It's a Sri Lankan Muslims dish I guess not an a malay dish.
@soildigger64523 жыл бұрын
It brought to Sri Lanka by Malay who came from Indonesia/Malaysia in colonial era. Correct me if I wrong 🙏🏽 Wattalapam similar with "srikaya/serikaya" in Indonesia. We both share similar dishes, just like dodol, acar, sambal, babat so many on. Love Sri Lankan islanders from Indonesian islander 🇱🇰🇲🇨
@Baba-so6fh3 жыл бұрын
This is SriLankan Malay influenced and it’s called serikaya. And yes most likely from Indonesia. I’m a Sri Lankan Malay and we call this dish Seri Kaya!
