Huy Fong Foods, maker of sriracha sauce, halts production because the red jalapeño chile peppers used to make the sauce aren't red enough.

Sorry, Sriracha does NOT taste the way it used to before their main shortage a few years ago. It is no longer spicy. Underwood Ranch use to provide Huy Fong Foods with all the peppers for decades. This stopped a few years ago due to that lawsuit they ultimately a settlement over Huy Fong Foods. Underwood Ranch now has their own Sriracha sauce sold at Costco and it is just as spicy as the original Sriracha use to be.

That definitely isn’t the issue. During the shortages many competitors have filled the gap. Store shelves are full of competitors products.

The spring has been particularly long with cold and wet to the peppers are not red, meaning not full heat. In the meantime an economic downturn has probably hurt sales.

Those things have not affected chile production. Their jalapeños come from Mexico.

You sit and report a news story, but apparently you think Jalapeños are pink before they turn red? lol. A little investigating would’ve lead you to understand the Jalapeño pepper starts out growing green.. then after enough heat and growth, they ripen to the spicer red version. FYI

These reporters are so dumb. Jalepenos start out green and turn red as they ripen. This manufacturer obvioulsy has color standards in order to maintain quality control and producd consistency in order to keep their customers happy.
