In most cases battery doesn't die completely. It becomes weak to crank up the engine, so a kick helps to start in that case. This is definitely a cost cutting from manufacturers and that too a bad one.

I agree with you. I faced this problem in my FZ V3, battery failed to crank the engine after 2 years and I had to replace the battery with new one. First battery which comes while purchasing the bike is only having one year warranty. So I couldn't get any warranty.

I think it's only happen in big cc motorcycle more than 300 cc because there required more power to start and kick can't do that thing.

jab dhakka he dena hai to kick bhi de skti hai company. Kick nhi dena ek funda hai ki customer bar bar service center aata rahe jab bhi battery down ho. This is a business fundaa to run their service center.

Jab lamba time tak bike off rehe toh fir pahla start kick se hi karna chahye specially thanda me. Ek toh kick hata diye hai uper se light v direct kr diye hai jisse jo battery 4-5 saal chalta tha woh battery maximum 2 saal me hi change karna parta hai aajkl.

Kick starter is not only used when the bike isn't able to self start but also during cold starts. When the battery temperature is low and the engine is cranked, it puts much more load on the battery as compared to when the battery is at its normal operating temperature. Also when batteries go old, sometimes they cannot even crank the motorcycle in the mornings, this is when the kick starter is a saviour.

You are not taking the advancements in battery technology and also efficient engine desings. My prevoius bike is FZ which is of 2010 model it never let me stress NOT EVEN SINGLE time had cold start issue. Also batteries have evolved so much, it doesn't matter weather the battery is at 20c or 40c they operate just same. Yes extreme temperatures will have effect but in India, thats not the case. We need to get rid of that old mind set where you have to start with kick start then wait for it to heat up etc. MT15/R15 has auto warmup feature. It will take care of the engine operating temperature on start up. Removing kick has their own benifits.. Weight, extra rotor, more drag, etc to name a few.

@@bankniftylivedata5765 they don't operate the same bro. You cannot see the stress on the battery unless you're right there on the top of the battery with a voltmeter. Try it on an old battery, the morning start will show a bit hickup but as it warms up it will start operating as normal.

@@akshayjoshi5955 I think you mistook about voltage and warm up.. If the battery has low voltage, yes it will struggle to crank the engine but it will not operate as normal because it warms up, rather the bike actually charges the battery after it started. Which in turn raises the battery voltage temporarily hence it will work normal for that day. But once you turn it off and keep it for long time, the battery discharges again and it will have problem starting the bike. Generally this means battery needs to be replaced. These days batteries are made for wide operating temperatures so temperature is not the issue but charge holding is the issue in case the battery fails. Also thanks to electronics, ECU will let you know one way or other that battery needs to be replaced.. Atleast in Yamaha. My MT came with Exide battery which has very bad QC. It failed just after 6 months. I don't even know that battery failed but I got engine check light turned on. So I went to showroom and in the system it showed battery is dead. (Bike still running and turning on with that battery) which means ECU was programmed by Yamaha to check the battery capacity and health and indicate in the Diag mode. Went with Amaron and never had another issue. I got replacement battery for free but even that failed with my inverter. One thing i realised is that Exide has very bad QC control.

I have fuel injection system in my bike honda shine bs6 varient but one day my self was not working in traffic...and i got panicked since people honk from back side....that time kick helped me to start my bike.... similar cases has happened with my friends.....if batteries die completely then giving 2-3 kicks atleast supplies little current to fuel injection system and other electronic parts....and the loop continues on as bike starts...since battery and all other electronic parts are connected with alternator parallely... after this kind of self problem you can go for service check for battery...but it kick saves you from self problem...you are wrong

Kick in lower cc bike is helpful and yes it's a cost cutting strategy too. If battery dies, you can use the kick for starting all the elecronic system. Someday if a popular company adds kick in future, then other company may again start giving kick🤣. It will be a nice competition....lol

The first commercial bike in India with fuel injection technology was Hero Glamour PGM-Fi followed by Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSFi. Yamaha R15 came much later. Everyone was shocked by the absence of kickstart in Pulsar at that time and moreover, the electric start on it was unreliable.

Thanks for the video. I have one year old avenger bs6 160 street FI model. Yesterday only I faced this issue of bike not starting on self start. Had to juggle for half an hour and call a local mechanic who put it into second gear and pushed it by running along with it for few meters. Then only it’s battery got charged. I wanted to know why Hero Xpulse 200 cc which is FI based motorcycle has both Kick and self start? Kindly clarify.

Hero is always behind the times, instead of complaining get your bike serviced on time so you can get battery charged on time, also starting on 2nd gear isn’t a huge task, you should workout more frequently as such frail muscles are not good for anyone.

I own a pulsar 150 twin disc bs4 version which lacks kick. It's been over 3.5 years now but still never faced any issue regarding self, it used to start in 1st or 2nd self. I generally ride my bike only in weekend, service center guys told me to start the bike in every 1 or 2 days but I haven't face issue, not even in peak winter, just switch on the choke ! So don't worry and buy any bike you guys want. And now days bikes are coming with fi , no need of kick, my bike is carb !

My Apache 200 4v Carburettor version had a battery problem soon after delivery, it is a carburetted bike keep in mind but does not have a kick start, I had pretty embarrassing moments and of course lot of problems as well!! I wish there was a kick start, very bad decision by the motorcycle manufacturers for sure.

No Brother You Are Wrong.... Companies Are Not Giving Kick Start Just For Cost Cutting.... I Had Hornet 160r BS-IV Carburetor Engine Which Has Kick Start.. 10 Days Ago I Purchased Pulsar NS125 Which Is Fuel-Injected And It Also Has A Kick Start. In My Opinion Kick Start Is Very Essential For Bikes. During Winter Or Cloudy Days It Gets Very Tough To Start The Bike At That Very Moment Kick Start Is Used As A Saviour. It's My Habit To Start My Bike With Kick Start For The Very First Time Everyday.

Xblade BS6 ( with Fuel Injection) battery had a complaint. So, removed it and rode the bike with kick start for around 200kms, until got new battery. 🙂

Bro my Pulsar 220F is 2013 carburetor model and it did not come with a kick rod. I still have the bike and changed batter 5 times. Battery lasts 2 years max for me. I still like to have a kick rod on any bike. Kick starting a bike is an emotion😊 And it was a total surprise for me to not have a kick rod after owning pulsar 150 for 9 years.

I have bajaj 150 Avenger street, it has carburetor, & no kick, but if my battery is down or no battery in it then i am unable to do push start as well. I have faced this low battery issues multiple time. Can you suggest any solution because I got surprised that it has neither have kick nor push start if battery is low or battery is missing. Thanks

Still, kick should've been provided. As you said, it can help the engine to start which will start the generator to deliver energy to the electronic components.

To ab kick nhi arhi, aur mera kehne ka matlab hai ke aisi naubat hi na aney do ke self khrab ho jese car me care krte he, isme kya mushkil hai? Kabada banane ki zarurat kya hai bike ko? Mere pas bullet 1992 old model hai, halk kick me start ho jati hai lekin kabhi kabhi pareshan krti hai, aur me sochta hu ke kaash isme self start hota. Asli chiz engine ki sound and smoothness hoti hai na ke kick.

Rahi baat bullet ki, bullet me starting problem hmesha se hi rahi hai, cast iron ka engine hai uska jo ki bohot purani technology pr based hai. Aur aisa nahi hai ki kick se wo islye start nahi hoti kyuki usme FI hai, usme to kbhi kbhi self bhi kaafi zyada der lena pdta hai tb start hoti hai aur yahi same samasya uske carburettor wale model me bhi hai. Wo long stroke engine hai, usko crank krne ke liye zda taakat lgani pdti hai. Aap glamour FI ko dekho... Usme kick aur FI saath me ho kr bhi starting me koi issue nahi hota... Aur rahi baat gaadi ko kabada bnane ki, toh sirf battery change na krwane se gaadi kabada nahi bnti. Jo log job krte hai buisness wagera krte hai unko nahi time milta. Wo log nahi krwa pate time to time hr cheez. Ab aise me agar unki gaadi chalu hi na ho toh wo headache hi bn jata hai...

the truth is cost cutting, not only have companies increased the price of most bikes above 1 lakh, but also have started removing essential features like a kick start, which is very important in Indian conditions. Its like removing headphone jack from smartphones and showing as if thats a good thing because premium segment phones and iPhones don't have headphone jack, here the truth is plain and simple, "cost cutting".

Let me add to what he said, why they went all in electronics? Simple reason efficiency and performance at the same time. MT can reach 130kmph easily at the same time it can also give an average of 50kmpl. Which would be impossible for a carburator engine. You can either run rich or lean. But with FI, you can actively vary the fuel injection time to give more petrol or just keep the engine alive.

Bro the bike works on dc current,the alternator produce ac current but the rectifiers converts it to dc current and all the electronics components run on dc current in bike.

ये सही है कि बिना battery के Fi वाली bikes नहीं चला सकते क्योंकि Fi के लिए electricity की जरूरत पड़ती है। लेकिन जब battery सिर्फ इतनी low हो कि Fi को electricity तो दे पाए लेकिन engine को start न कर सके तो kick की जरूरत पड़ेगी ही। मान लो कोई ट्रेफिक जाम में फंसा हो जिसके आगे पीछे वाहनों की लम्बी कतार हो तो उस स्थिति में वह bike को धक्का देकर भी start नहीं कर सकेगा। इसलिए bike में kick तो होनी ही चाहिए। It's very must.

Everything is true and we understand all the aspects. But there is a problem. In winters when engine become very cold overnight, at that time it seems impossible to start bike alone with self starter. Sometime it takes 10-15 minutes to start bike. So I. This case it is important to have a kick in the bike .

I still prefer bike with Kickstart. I sold CBZ Xtreme 2012 model without kickstart and bought Xtreme 200r with Kickstart. Self Start of CBZ Xtreme became weak and I had to walk long way.

If there is a Kickstarter and first start of day is by kick, battery will last at least 5 years unless battery will last 2years and there will be a lot of problem in bike giving lots of headache

All Bs6 are fuel injected. Splendor,pulsar,shine etc..... has fuel injection and kick start. Its just like removing 3.5 jack and charger form phone.

Agar Bike me bas itni he battery ho jisse ecu on rah sake us time par kya kick kaam aaygi, Matlab self start karne ke liye agar 25% battery chahiye or ECU on rakhne ke liye 10% or bike me 10% he battery ho to uss time kick se bike start hogi ya nhi. Please Clarify me that kyuki fz me ignition on karte he main headlight on ho jaati hai to waha pe bhi battery drain ho jaati hai..😕😕

Few days ago my pulsar 150's battery was dead I buyed the bike in May 2022 I had kickstart so I started what would the owner do who doesn't have kick in that situation.

This is pure cost cutting. Whatsoever be the explanation for removing the kickstart from bikes, kick start is an important segment of any motorcycle. Recently, I was on my bike and it was running on a national highway. At one point of time, the self start was not working and stranded in the middle of the highway. (Just 1 year old Apache bike) Had there been a kick start I could have easily started the bike and returned back home safely. Also, the more complex things are added like sensors and all, bikes have started to be more prone to various problems. I have an old bike (Discover 150) more than 12 years old, which doesn't even have a single problem until now.

Mere bhai Vehical me ALTERNATING Current(AC) nahi hota sirf DC hota hai.. Alternator sirf DC current deta hai. Otherwise hame additional invetor lagana padega battery ke liye

kick start is also rotate the alternator although it gives the power to battery and other equipments.........its simple a cost cutting by companys

Kick pedal in a four stroke engine is an advantage for its health, specially for new engines in cold condition because before spark the engine cylinder walls will need the primary lubrication and smoothen the start without a chance of abrasion✍️

Initially they provided FI engines when there’s no other companies providing such engines (except some high end bike) but they were too ahead of that time that’s why it was big failure. Now most of the companies provide FI engine.
