Kalks in anarchy how are you going to seize the mean of production? Through a state? With RULES suggesting you can’t participate in free market activity and working in co operation with agreed on wages to create a business/corporation. Also the interchangeable hierarchy’s in capitalism aren’t useless as they reward the people that take that extra step forward ultimately serving the capita. Your argument doesn’t suggest that anarcho capitalism isn’t anarchy. Also anarcho communism is a joke and could never exist communism is inherently authoritarian and the opposition to freedom.

If you disagree, it means you're thinking about how issues should best be handled instead of just going with an ideology verbatim no exceptions. Leftists' and anarchists' infighting is a sign that they're taking their ideas under serious consideration and not favoring "unity" over well-reasoned stances. Of course authright and authleft fight plenty, and authright and libright... sometimes fight I guess? But giving in to dogma doesn't create a good system. Thought should stay in flux to better reflect current evidence and situations, if it's left to stagnate policy becomes religion.

@@rachelslur8729 Then how do you explain people starving _right now_ despite food production far outstripping the need for food globally? Capitalism requires some to have and some to have not in order to motivate people to work, and it's these contradictions that make automation under capitalism terrifying because the elimination of the one thing most people can sell for money, labor, would likely mean the literal elimination of anyone who does not have capital to sustain themselves. Or, in other words, you can't make the people who have the machines to create infinite tacos share their tacos, at least not without those people enforcing what's essentially a new state in which they draw their power from their monopoly on tacos. At some point the person claiming they own the means of taco production need to be beaten up so that everyone can eat tacos without having to fear them being withheld to coerce them into doing something.
@strider9381
@strider9381 4 жыл бұрын
@@Helmic I respect your criticism! Let me explain: First of all, world hunger is in constant decline for the last decades. Less and less people suffer from hunger measured percentage wise and absolute. Extreme poverty is rapidly declining, people all over the globe are becoming more wealthy (highly socialist countries excluded ofc). I think capitalism is not so much about some people having something and others not. I mean, that's one way to put it, but it just sounds way more negative that it really is. No matter how wealthy we become, our desires accustom to it. Even if you distribute goods equally to everyone, some might value a certain good more highly than another. And if you give "each to their needs/desires", then you are going to have the same problem the next day again, because suddenly everyone needs/desires something else. That's only realizable if you can spontaneously give the people what they need or want, like a cheat in a video game (attention, transhumanists). And we all know that cheating is fun at first, but quickly gets boring and then there is nothing fun left to do. It is therefore not a contradiction, but a requirement for a happy and rewarding life to not get everything for free at once, but to voluntarily exchange scarce goods for a profit to get what you need. And your labor time is ALWAYS a scarce good and ALWAYS will be. You have a brain that can pretty much learn an infinite amount of skills, why would you worry about finding work? If there is no government to stop you, you can literally do everything for money, as long as it's consensual. Now to the economic part: You've heard about the law of diminishing returns? If it's possible to produce near infinite tacos in a given time, their value will converge to zero. There is little room for discussion about that point, you know how inflation works. "You can't make the people who have the machines to create infinite tacos share their tacos" is like saying "People with infinite-taco-machines have no other desires and needs in life besides tacos". Which is wrong, I mean they only have infinite tacos, not infinite everything. They will trade their tacos with you, because they want other stuff as well. Stuff, that you can provide better than they can, relative to your means. Your argument is only valid in case a single person can produce infinite amounts of everything there could possible be, and nobody else could produce anything at all! Then that person could control all goods like a god. The thing is though, all the other people still can and will produce something for themselves and others. They will just create a separate economy for themselves. A world with a single guy that has infinite resources and lives isolated on some island while boycotting the rest of the world... That's just like our world today, only difference is that nobody knows about that godlike capitalist overlord on the island. He probably has no friends anyway... But wait, good friends are also a scarce good in a way, so he has infinite good friends? Yeah, I think by now everyone has realized the absurdity of the situation. At the end of the day, there will always be an easy way for you to get your tacos.

Well that's mostly because government isn't naturally occuring, it's a result of the evolution of capitalism. First there were people who had farms and controlled food, then they created heirarchies to provide food in a more structured way, those structures grew into monarchies which became mercantilist states which further became capitalist ones. The reason for capitalism's initial development [I:E why didn't the grug with the wheat/rice just share] was likely that fear about resource shortages led them to want to be solely responsible for what was done with their resources, believing themselves the best and most smartest grug because they were the one who dropped the wheat seeds. Either that or they were already working with bartering and saw a way to game the system, having something everyone needed always guaranteeing that they could get the things that they needed so long as others had them, and knowing that giving away the wheat, while it would allow others to live comfortably and produce more, would effectively nullify that bargaining chip.

Anarchism means either no leader or no government. If corporations are running everything without a national government, the second definition is fulfilled. If corporations are competing with each other for state-replacement governance activities but there is no clear Top Dog, then the first is fulfilled. Anarchism is nowhere defined as "an absence of oppression of the downtrodden and exploitation of the workers." Anarchos assert (quite stridently, too) that their particular brand of Anarchy will _result_ in the above condition being fulfilled, but it could be fulfilled just as well under a rich and prosperous State led by enlightened liberal democratists who maintain a large, well-funded social safety net. Anarchy is supposed to be about means, not ends. Anarchy is not sought because all men are angels and heroes, but because all men are fools and knaves. Not because there are no men fit to be slaves, but because there are none fit to be rulers. As Rothbard said, "The world is and always has been in a state of Anarchy. The population is divided into those who know this, and those who don't."

Well, most of them do have some wonderful ideas! I'm particularly fond of the "post scarcity economy" one tho. I belive that trough technological progress AND ecology, we could achieve some rather incredible stuff. A little bit of both transhumanisme and primitivisme, and there you go: a wonderful heaven for everyone, human or not. Of course, I also think that without the suppression of hierarchy, without freedom, and without redistribution, all of this is worthless and either terrifying or literally impossible. Anyway, we all want to fight against this unfair world right? Let's do that together :)

As nice as it is. I do want to point out that: -If our work gave us purpose before post scarcity, and then suddenly our work is no longer valauable, even with our basic needs met, those higher tier needs would just become all the more important and consuming to us. We'd need to find higher purposes for ourselves, as though we don't already have that problem for many of us already doing well enough off. -You already mentioned making sure post scarcity benefits all, argueably, proper distrubution is the core problem already, not that we don't have enough to go around. We already have some mild post-scarcity. -Ideally, everyone is in for the same goal. Unfortunately, this is likely always been the furthest thing from the truth. Remove all the other biases in the brain and you still have some "need" in some people to dominate others. More then anything I feel this has to be dealt with so that everyone has the same priorities in the first place. This could be expanded upon ad nausem so I'm not going to mention any of it. So feel free to disbelieve me. All I ask is that you consider the idea, I just wanted to introduce it to you.

Anarcho-capitalism by definition requires hierarchies and violence to maintain property rights. The word is an oxymoron, it has nothing to do with anarchism. If you start protecting your lands and factories, you are setting up a state. Anarco-capitalism just regresses back to the same line of logic old Kings used to maintain their kingdom. Hey they did nothing wrong, since the King owned those lands.

I don't know if you've read any serious ancap literature, like books and collections of essays but it's not that simple to dismiss. I'm not an ancap myself, but it is a form of anarchism and the theory has strong roots in libertarian tradition. As someone who has been studying this intensively for quite awhile now, I don't think it's feasible but I do think it rightfully qualifies as a technically anarchist philosophy.

Also, just as an aside, just as many serious claims can be made against anarcho-communism as authoritarian as anarcho-capitalism, and they have been made by many. I prefer what MLK called a higher synthesis of the two opposite systems and I find t hat best expressed by mutualism.

Some literature to check out if you are interested in the ancap philosophy. I have read everything I can find, but I think most AnCaps would agree to these being fundamental elements: "Human Action" - Ludwig Von Mises "Natural Law: The Science of Justice" - Lysander Spooner "Man, Economy, and State" - Murray Rothbard Before I read any of these, I also read this as a primer to individualist philosophy: "Objectivism, The Philosophy of Ayn Rand" - Leonard Peikoff (She does a good job explaining the morality of selfishness and how helping yourself helps others more than helping others does due to the inherently logical nature of what it requires to truly operate in your own best interest. For the most part, you can ignore what she has to say about governments as it can be shown to be logically inconsistent with the rest of the argument. The other works show how private or decentralized/competitive justice arbitrators and private, temporary militias not only work best but also make the state unnecessary.)
@DrexisEbon
@DrexisEbon 7 жыл бұрын
The conflict between AnarchoCapitalism and all other forms of Anarchism is the defining premise. Anarchism takes the definition of the Greek word Anarkos - "no rulers" to be the latter form of the greek root "Arkos" as described in early left-anarchist writings, which they translated to 'hierarchy' and 'obligations' or 'responsibilities' rather than the actual meaning of the Greek work "Arkos" which translates to, very specifically, "political rulers." Or, in the current actual definitive and connotative form, "That entity which possesses a monopoly on the use of force (see also: the State)." The kind of order that Anarchism supports would actually have been from the greek word for a difference in value - διαφορά. The kind of stratification of society that arises from AnarchoCapitalism is called meritocracy. Each person can earn survival, as in nature, but it is guaranteed to none (although it can be gifted voluntarily, as in the instance of creating life by producing a newborn and therein gifting a body and life to the newborn). It is what happens naturally, in nature, when you leave people to their own ends. I like to think of it this way: Anarchism is an imposition of values whereas AnarchoCapitalism is the complete freedom to do as you will regulated by naturally arising order rather than imposed order. Natural Order, AnarchoCapitalism : Atrificial Equality, Anarchism Anarchism is a series of ideas that must be held and things that must be enforced for an anarchy to exist. AnCap does not advocate for any violent systems that control political or social action. It simply is a model for what would naturally happen if the state were ever abolished. In other words, Anarchism is a means to reach Anarchy while AnCap is what that Anarchy would actually end up looking like due to natural law. (See the works of Lysander Spooner, Ludwig Von Mises, and Murray Rothbard if you would like further elaboration) AnCaps make claims about the state of nature and man's role within it (ex. that individuals are the only ones with a legitimate ability to use defensive force) while describing how economics make that society stable and productive without political rulers. AnCap philosophy is a model based on economics, it is NOT an advocacy movement (although there are those who advocate for the abolishment of the state because of how much better the model looks). Economics are descriptive, not prescriptive. Where Anarchism is an advocacy for a philosophical norm, AnarchoCapitalism is merely a description of how natural order operates and why you don't need a state due to that natural order.

Since it is not the case in our reality, but the opposite, then feminism fights patriarchy. It's simple logic. And remember that you said it right: "they're against hierarchy if they see males on top". Thumbs up :D I know you have to oversimplify the terms for times sake but I will say something regarding "We have enough tacos for everybody to be full forever, anytime." in relation to post scarcity anarchism - The tl;dr version is - It's not actually true that proponents of post-scarcity economics believe humans have an unlimited abundance of resources. The long version - While scarcity in absolute terms will always be with humanity to one degree or another in this closed system of Earthly resources, scarcity on the level of human needs and basic material success is no longer a viable defence of the market system's allocation methods. A common defence of the price system and the market is that if any scarcity exists, it makes void any other approach. The argument goes that since not everyone can have xyz, xyz is scarce and hence people need money (or have a lack thereof) to filter out who gains xyz and who doesn't. The problem with this assumption is that it ignores how certain resources and hence goods have more relevance than others when it comes to public health. Comparing the scarcity of a very expensive, luxury car which draws status satisfaction from its owner more than its basic purpose as a mode of transport - with the scarcity of food, which is a core life requirement for health, is not legitimate in real life terms. The former interest, while perhaps important to the ego satisfaction of the owner who likely already has his or her basic needs met to afford such a product, is not equivalent to the latter interest of those who have little or nothing to eat and hence cannot survive. One cannot arbitrarily conflate such “needs” and “wants”, as though they are simply the same, in theory. Sadly, this is how the market system behaves. Likewise, with great wealth and material imbalance, comes inevitable social destabilisation. Virtually every large-scale public dissent and revolution we have seen in the past couple hundred years have had some economic basis, usually revolving around societal imbalance, exploitation and class separation. The same goes for the roots of crime, terrorism, addictions and other social problems. Virtually all of these propensities are born out of deprivation, whether absolute or relative and this deprivation is inherent to the nature of a society based on competition and scarcity. So, to simply reduce our economic reality down to mere trade, coupled with the claim that any degree of scarcity justifies the use of the market, price and money for allocation, is to ignore the true nature of what ensures social harmony, stability, and public health. Would it seem reasonable to forgo the technical ability to, say, elevate 80% of humanity to the material capacity currently held by only 10% today, simply because “not everyone can own a 500 room mansion”? Again, the absurdity of this objection is quite clear when a system perspective is taken with respect to what underscores true public health and social stability. Assessing the state of natural resources to gauge the degree of total/maximum use capacity as per the human population cannot be done by simply extrapolating around current methods. We need to get both a general sense of current inventory levels of all relevant Earthly, resources and then digest them with respect to the efficiency amplifiers which, in effect, radically change the way industrial practice and consumption unfolds. It is also worth noting that modern science has brought a great deal of synthesis into play and the use of polymers, meta-materials and other rapid advancements in chemistry, physics and engineering are accelerating. The end result is that many resources considered problematic, such as rare Earth metals, are finding replacements via highly abundant means. The only way post scarcity anarchism could work is if the profit motive itself was removed, which is essentially impossible if we are to still think within the context of a market economy. The only reason companies employ technology to replace human labour to begin with is to save money and increase their competitive place in the overall economy by some degree. This intention undermines any kind of distribution balance between buying power and cost-savings. In relation to taco production: Current production methods already produce more than enough food to feed all human beings on earth. Furthermore, current trends toward more optimised technology and agricultural methods also show a capacity to further increase production efficiency and nutrition quality to a state of active abundance, with minimal human labour and increasingly less energy, water and land requirements.

That's not very accurate of mutualism. The idea is free market prices naturally gravitate towards labor costs. No one is going stop you trying to make a profit.
