If you use the lighter, it will only work for poly blends since any natural fibers will light right up and ash, not melt.

I just started customizing my first pair last night. I pretty much finished painting and am gonna add fabric. I just wanna say be careful with that masking tape cause it's no joke. I put it over the stitching to protect it while I was painting, when I took it off, a few strands slightly pulled with it, causing a few fly aways. Not a big deal but just a tip, especially if you're customizing for someone else. And thanks for the vid mis Jaz
