He never gotten a chance to do what he loves to do. To force him retire when his body is so strong and so young is hard. Aera didn't want to sacrifice for his life to pursue his dream. She sacrifice to break up to keep him alive. She wanted him to stop. It is life and death decision already. She needs him more than anything in the world. It was too painful for her. I think it is too much to digest in one last episode. We could demand or ask them for sequel. These things will send message to all of us how we can cope with these kind of realistic decisions. However, we hope for more love between Dongman and Aera so we could move on. If Dongman's family found out what really happened to him, they will beg him to retire. The real case (Return of Superman)- we can see glimpse of the relationship between Choo Sunghoon and Yano Shiho. You can see how whiny Yano has gotten when she begged her husband to retire and live longer for their daughter, Sarang. They married when Sunghoon was at his peak. She really likes him. She has sacrificed a lot to marry him. Joining the variety show (Return of Superman) is probably Yano's persistence to her husband to join so he could not only rely on his income in fighting. She wanted him to explore other options. She kept him busy and helped him to develop his other interests. It turned out to be a good decision. It is not only about Sarang learning about her Korean heritage. I think Yano is trying to push her husband to find more interests to explore and having relationship with his daughter will make him realize that he wants to live longer. His dream of fighting is nothing compared to see his daughter grow. He started to get commercial offers and growing interest in fashion and even getting offers for cameo role in some movies. There are fighting scene in some movies and he would show off his fighting skills. He still goes back to fighting again if his body recovers or ready to do it so. It gives his more time to heal. Before they left the show, Yano mentioned that she persuaded her husband to get medical check up. There are some small fracture in his body and shoulder. He still wants to fight. He has not yet announced his retirement but he probably got some surgery and busy with other commitments. He will return when his body heals and he may go back to the ring. If not, he may announce his retirement. Dongman's case is very sensitive. Dongman needs to understand his boundaries. He went too far to face Taksu who Aera knows is a dirty fighter. She allowed him to fight with others but not Taksu. It is too late. Dongman has head injury and he still wants to fight. He must think about Aera. But he is now doing for himself and others. He is risking his life. Aera is probably trying to remind him how cruel is it when he made these decision. Not everyone dream come true which is realistic. No matter how much Aera desperately wanted him to be happy but it is not safe. She don't want to loose him forever. He was her whole life. Her strong love is realistic. I think Aera is trying to make Dongman realize what he is doing is selfish and he must let it go because he has Aera. He has to choose his dream or Aera. If he realize it and choose Aera, there will be new and more opportunities opened before him. He could be a coach, become an actor, or join safer fighting competition that is not extreme as MMA. He can be announcer or own a gym or etc. It is like Jooman and Seol Hee break up has given Jooman gets a wake up call. Seol Hee needs to be herself. She was almost invisible when it comes to Jooman. Jooman is actually starting to beg to bring her back. I think it is realistic but I don't want to digest all of it in one last episode. I just want to see more kisses and love between Dongman and Aera before we say good bye! I love this show and the chemistry between Seo Joon and Ji Won.

Lol it's like people have never watched a kdrama before. Breakup before the last episode is like kdrama 101. This ep was heartbreaking though. It's worse because I understand them both. It's not as simple as Dong Man choosing fighting over Ae Ra. It's just not something he can give up. It's not simply that he wants to do it, it's what makes him Dong Man. He doesn't want to go back to living like a zombie. That there are real risks that go with that choice is certainly true, but he's not risking any more than anyone else who chooses to do this sport. Even the doctor said it was a common injury for fighters. On the other hand, Ae Ra isn't trying to be selfish or petty either. It's natural for her to be scared especially after seeing Dong Man getting injured like that. And even after it heals, every time he walks into the ring it's like he's betting on his life. Ae Ra from the start hadn't wanted him to become a MMA fighter so her reaction to him wanting to continue fighting is really not surprising. Her ultimatum wasn't her trying to get in Dong Man's way . She was just stating what she could and could not accept. No matter how much you love someone, a long term relationship is ultimately about finding someone you can live with, and for the moment, this isn't something she can live with. For me, a breakup at this point was inevitable. It's not a problem that can be resolved simply because they love each other. Neither of them has left any space for the other to negotiate towards a compromise that works for them both. With things as they are, how could their relationship progress? It's also true that after this they can't return to being friends. If Hye Ran was right about one thing, it's that if Dong Man and Ae Ra dated, it would have to be all or nothing. Their feelings for each other are too big and too deep to be shoved back into a box and even if they could be, the problem their relationship is facing wouldn't disappear. Honestly, I really respect the writer of this drama. Usually kdrama breakups are caused by non problems with obvious solutions, but this one feels like real life. I think that's what makes this drama so great and so popular. It feels like real life and is therefore very relatable without being horrendously depressing even with its heartbreaking moments. Can't wait to see how all of this resolves itself. We have hope. The reappearance of Ae Ra's mom might be the catalyst they need to help them both find a way back to each other.

I haven't been able to move on from this drama it's really very memorable ... and I really like this couple. Kim Jiwon and Park Seo Joon are really very harmonious ... hopefully we will meet again in the next drama😢
