Welcome to Episode 18 in our Sacraments series, our last episode on the Sacrament of Holy Orders - and our final full episode in the Sacraments Series. Fr. John McFarland is back to look at the New Rite of Holy Orders. Like we have seen in other episodes on the sacraments, we’ll have two areas of focus: First, is the sacrament itself valid, in terms of matter, form, minister, and intent? Second, we’ll look at what has changed, in the ceremonies surrounding the matter and the form. Does this new rite of Holy Orders give the same emphasis, theology, and understanding of the sacrament as the Traditional Rite? If not, can we see what the effects are from these changes - both in the lives of the new priests and the lives of the faithful? We’ll dive into that next.

The more I hear these series, the more I feel so badly as a former Catholic school teacher. I did not know if these changes. Thank you, Father McFarland, for this information on the different rites of ordination.

Please keep up the faith. If you have a vocation, please don't lose it. I couldn't discern with the SSPX because of my past history but if you are clear and clean, please don't give up. Carry the touch for the rest of us. Ave Cor Mariae 🙏🏽

This total change to the Sacrament of Holy Orders, the anointing of the hands, being given authority to absolve sins, offering Sacrifice of the greatest gift ever given up to God, by God, a perfect and Holy Sacrifice. I cannot believe how deceived we all so trusting of our Priests never for one moment did I perceive the great injustice and irreverence given to the most Holy of Holies.The men who deliberately plotted this outcome of the Novus Ordo could not possibly believe in God's existence or the Holy Wrath that will inevitably be unleashed upon themselves for misleading the innocence of the children and the congregation. The sooner it is crushed by the foot of Our Blessed Mother the sooner we can breathe a breath of peace.🙏Holy Angels and Saints please pray for us especially those who are sleeping oblivious to the evil that has entered the Church.

I really wish that the sspx would take up John Salza on his challenge to debate their differences. I write this comment in charity, btw. Salza brings up a lot of great points and I would love to hear what the sspx would say in response.

Father, will you please describe what kind of training and/or preparation is given for the SSPX Priest to receive the minor order of exorcist since that was a major part of Jesus' Priesthood; and what expectation do you have in such a one in incorporating that ministry into his. I remember a brief conversation with a Novus Ordo Priest who told me that he automatically received it in his ordination with no specific mention of it in the ordination ceremony. Also, please, what training do the Priests receive in counseling the faithful in a deeper spiritual life and/or a calling to the contemplative life.... like St. Mary Magdalene? I read of one Saint who had to go through so many Priests to find a good spiritual director because they just weren't trained. Thank you.

The former diocesan priest you mentioned...would that happen to be Fr. Pieroni? He's an absolutely amazing priest and we in NH will miss him when he is transferred to Florida.

As a layperson living in the world, I don't have the purity, knowledge or skills to be involved at the Most Sacred Altar before God. This is why Holy Priests through whom Our Lord works at the altar are critical and essential to make the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass acceptable to a Most Holy God. Holy Priests belong to Our Lord forever. I detest the Novus Ordo. It has sent millions astray from God including myself.
