Stokes Thomas. He was born in Enniscorthy and educated at the local Christian Brothers school. He was a member of the Men’s Confraternity Choir of the Holy Family attached to Cathedral and a member of the Enniscorthy Musical Society and of the Gaelic League. After the Rising he was detained in Richmond Barracks and then deported serving time in Stafford Jail. While he was in Stafford his mother became very ill and although he was given temporary release by the time he got home she was dead and buried. He was returned to Richmond Barracks then to Knutsford and then transferred to Frongoch where his health began to fail. He was released from Frongoch in December 1916. He returned to Ireland and resumed work but in July 1917 his health began to fail again and he died on the 29th of September 1917 aged 24 years old. He was laid to rest in the cemetery attached to the Cathedral with full military honours provided by the Volunteers.
