That was a beautiful presentation of this Church. I think I could have spent hours just reading up the history let alone absorbing all the wonderful architecture and stained glass windows. Absolutely stunning. The graveyard was very interesting too, and immaculately kept. Rather you than me going up those stairs, but the view was amazing. Thank you so much Sue. 💕🇦🇺

Wow this was an amazing treat Sue ,except the last bit..I got a few quick glances of how beautiful the view was before you looked down and I had to stop looking until you was down..phew! I don’t do heights at all even on screen lol!..There we’re some lovely old headstones outside and another of those very old bases of a medieval stone coffin grave with the lid missing ..Those are very rare any way .But the toms inside were magnificent ,it will give our American friends a bit of a treat seeing such old tombs.It certainly is a beautiful Cathedral and thank you so much for the tour and the history of the tombs and the building .It was really nicely done ..I really loved it..Made my day .Love n Light 🥰

Oh Sue this was absolutely Georgeous. The inside of the Church took my breath away. Kind left me misty eyed. I'm not fond of heights either. I get virgo looking down from high places. To see the beauty, the crypts inside the beautiful carvings. Wow. U can't help but feel sentimental. How well they are carved. That took time and patience probally a very steady hand. I see why some had theirs made before they passed. It would not loom like a rush job. Just Beautiful. 👍💯❤🌻🦋🌠🤗🕯✌🌷. Take care. God Bless. Love,respect and positivity always. Neita James. 🧘♀️🙂👋.

Wow! I'm going to watch this over & over. I've been to this Church a few times. My paternal grandfather was Church of Ireland who converted to Catholicism to marry my maternal grandmother. However, he remained active in COI and we have many family members still in. I've always felt at home in both religions and my daughter was baptised COI. Hats off for climbing the tower. I get your vertigo. So many magnificent examples of ancient craft and skill. That's the beauty of being Irish. These amazing places are quite near at hand.

Hey Sue, this was such a great video, for a great cathedral. The entire site speaks of such an ancient time, long past. When you look at the names n descriptions on the graves n tombstones it makes me wonder about what life mustve been like for them...so vastly different, esp when you go back to the 16th, 13th centuries, etc...ao long ago. The production n music for the video was great too. Thanks very much for making it to the top of the tower at the end, it seemed like no small task getting up there (it'd be a bigger task for me lol), it was a great view from up there too! :)

Hi, glad you enjoyed it, I never realised there were different types of marble even, learned a lot up there, thanks ❤️🍀🇮🇪
@a_gal_named_sue2 жыл бұрын
@@SerenitySueGraveyards I didn't know Ireland had other types of marble. The Connemara marble has different shades of green from a dark deep green to light shades of green. Where I grew up in Maryland there used to be marble quarries. That marble was white or light shades of gray and was used in the construction of buildings like the Washington Monument and Capitol in Washington DC. I was reading about it earlier today. It said a lot of the workers had been Irish immigrants. Not sure if any of my Irish ancestors worked in them but my mom's father and a couple of my uncles worked in the other quarries where gravel and stone were dug out. The Catholic church and school I went to while growing up were constructed of stone from the local quarries. I love churches made of stone, especially ones like the cathedrals in your videos. Thanks so much for sharing the beauty of the old churches and graveyards in your videos.

I have a question? Could not the churches, towns, that maintain the graveyards do fund raisers and from the monies make little metal plaques with the information of the information that is fading from the tombstones, crypt and place it next to the tombstones, crypt? Wouldn’t it be better to do something like that then to let all that history fade away? Also have a contribution box as well for people to drop monies in after visiting the grave yards? It seems such a shame all the information is slowly disappearing off the tombstones and crypts to be loss forever 😢
