Incredible information! I have centipede and pretty much can do everything you do with your St. Augustine grass, except 1/2 to 1/3 the N you can. I know this is an older video, but I have had issues with wild/common Bermuda creeping in my yard and I hit it with Atrazine (Image) and it helped knock out the unwanted Bermuda, without harming my "lazy man" centipede.

For the past 18 years I've been using ordinary cornmeal to cure brown patch. It works every year. Application rate is 2 pounds per 100 square feet or 20 per 1,000 if you're doing the entire yard. 50 pounds of cornmeal is usually well under $10 at your local feed store.
@petery6775
@petery6775 2 жыл бұрын
how its works ? feed "good" fungus or microbs ?
@dchall8
@dchall8 2 жыл бұрын
@@petery6775 Yes it works by promoting the population of Trichoderma (try ko DER muh) fungi. They are predatory against other forms of fungi. It takes about 3 weeks before you see that the disease is completely eradicated.
@petery6775
@petery6775 2 жыл бұрын
@@dchall8 interesting.. yes, i use trichoderma, but by growing it on oats in clean bottles. and then spreying with liquid. never heard that you can just feed natural trichoderma with corns. nice idea
@dchall8
@dchall8 2 жыл бұрын
@@petery6775 I don't think the corn feeds it directly. I think the corn is decomposed by fungi which the natural, background population of Trichoderma seem to repopulate upon. Then when those fungi are decomposed, any other fungi in the area become the target. It's kind of magical how well it works.

Well done Sir! I have messed with Rhizoctonia on SA and Zoysia for many, many years. Here are a couple of points to consider as well. Being soil-borne, it will likely come back (in those same areas) year after year. Secondly, most all product labels say to re-apply product every 14-28 days (or similar) until symptoms disappear. This may require several apps... which can get expensive.

Yeah I think for sure I'll need more apps. I get the Large Patch strain every year in fall and again in spring but it stays pretty much in the same place. This stuff has spread super fast - my assumption is the rain has dragged it everywhere.

Hey Allen I’ve been watching your channel for years and thought I should say I love your videos, but this time I need help. For the past 3 years I’ve been trying to grow grass in my front yard and had zero success it’s expensive to keep trying over and over for it just to get taken over by weeds or die. My last run I felt extremely good about it watered it daily was looking beautiful then it still started to die, I was trying to understand why it wasn’t taking, my front yard faces east but it’s about 1200sq on a slope that’s about 65 degrees. When it started to die it began at the top then eventually the entire yard, so I was thinking it’s a water problem because the bottom still looked great, so I started watering the top more but it wasn’t working shortly after I lost all hope the rest of the yard began to give way. The thing I left out is the sun up top it’s full sunlight and I’d guess about 3-5 hrs on the entire yard, you think a company would be willing to do a full renovation for product promotion? Or would you be willing to help? Either way thanks for beings cool

Just want to say thank you. I always had the naive idea that the professional grass growers never have issues. and your videos show me that no lawn is perfect and that any issues that arise in my lawn can be managed. So thank you for helping my lawn grow. Question: Do you feel the 4 week cycle of milo is a little to long? I notice a lightening of color at the beginning of wk 4. could just be the infancy of my soil only beginning to be healthy but just something i noticed. would you recommend a offsetting a light app of ironite to maintain a healthy color? (hope that made sense, plannning ahead for the spring, (cool season))

I would for sure recommend you change up your ferts. Milo is awesome, but there are other ferts that offer some longer lasting punch from different nutrients. If you want something to last a longer time, try this thelawncarenut.com/collections/granular-fertilizer/products/8-1-8-fertilizer

I'm from Texas, around the Dallas region. Our st. Augustine is around the metroplex is getting bad cases of Take All Patch (Root Rot). The only way I have found to combat it is spreading Sphagnum Peat Moss every month. You can't go with fungicide like headway their sister product because you end up going against the label. I guess my question is, is Florida going through bad T.A.P. and what is your recommendation for it? Thanks.
