This made me cry. Our intercession is SO vital and I will continue to make it a priority. Lord, My spirit is willing but my flesh is weak. Help me. I'm hearing and learning more about current day saints. Stories about the saints was always my favorite part of religion classes. I've never heard of St Gemma but when I was looking for a prayer for souls in purgatory, her's was the first one I found. I definitely want to know more about her. I hope you talk more about current day saints and catholic mystics on this channel.

I'm reading Saint Gemma's diary and I found that saint Therese of the child Jesus was on the purgatory during her time and Saint Gemma was praying for her to go to heaven. And Saint Gemma talks to her guardian angel often like a person. And the devil hurt her badly every night. And she has great love and admiration for Jesus.

sunk cost fallacy is strongly indicated imo, but labled mercy. Some association to mercy is better explained by sunk cost, the motivation is regret not 'mercy itself' as the saints suggests.

If it were not for my spiritual education, this story would be a cause of despair. How could St. Gemma be a greater sinner? What sins did she commit that are so grievous? Did she murder someone? Was she a thief, prostitute, alcoholic? Or was it she decided to stay in bed and miss her morning prayer? I guess the more you love someone, the more serious the little offenses are. This could also be the means by which Jesus was testing Gemma to stretch her intellect and consider the intercession of our Blessed Mother. Would she ever have failed to do so? The story is to teach us to always turn to His Mother.

well said, and I can see your point being misunderstood by protestants who aren't aware of her story, or any other Saints who had interactions with Jesus this way. And they'll be saying, that's not the Jesus I know. That's not biblical and so on.
