I am from northern Utah, and I attended college at SUSC in the mid 70s. Two of my close high school friends wanted to go there because at that time SUSC was noted for its wildlife management degree, and they were interested in that field, I was more into the social sciences, but I went along anyway. We traveled to St. George on many occasions, I recall visiting a roller-skating rink, bowling, golfing at a golf course called Bloomington. and attending college dances at Dixie Junior College. At that time Cedar and St George were roughly the same size; maybe 9,000 inhabitants, but it just seemed like St George was much livelier, more going on and things to do than Cedar. My close friends only attended Cedar for one year, I attended two years and then tx to Weber were I always wanted to go because it was much closer. I have fond memories of St George; it was a fun place.

St. George is still more lively than Cedar City, but both are beautiful places to live! St. George has grown much more quickly than Cedar City. It's almost 3x the size in population. Let me know if you're ever looking to make a move here. I'd love to help you!

In 2024 3 bed/2 bath new house is an average of $530K. Grocery stores are an average 13 miles away.The heath is on for 5 months of the year.Medical services are good.The services and other shops are insufficient for the size of the population.Water scarcity is looming on the horizon.Pretty generic western town in a way to Las Vegas.

It really does in a lot of ways. I lived in Henderson for over 20 years. The main difference I see is the red rocks and green mountains in the distance. Still desert scenery but a much more beautiful desert. Thank you for the comment!

I started traveling to St. George 20 years ago. Wish I bought something back then, gotten very expensive and so over populated.

The housing prices really shot up quite a bit over the last few years. If only we could see into the future. I definitely would have bought something back then as well, lol.

Real estate must be hurting a little bit since I have seen a few Realtors making KZfaq videos about St George. Too bad quite a few locals can’t afford houses where they grew up.

🤔 Realtors have been using KZfaq for years. It must just be new to your feed. It would be nice if everyone could afford a home.
