I spent 57 of my 81 years living in or around Sintelins so many of the places shown are familiar to me. I attended Windlehurst Primary (1945-51) and Cowley GS (1952-7)and worked for my families business Len Beaman Ltd from 1963-83.

What a fabulous look back at St Helens. I was born here in 1957 and remember so clearly those wonderful old buildings markets and parks. Visiting again a few years ago I was horrified to see what destruction has taken place, sadly like a lot of old Lancashire towns the heart has been ripped out and replaced with what exactly I find hard to describe.

We were born the same year,and like you ever time I visit I'm amazed at how little investment the council attracts.

Loved it, I remember some old buildings, not old enough to remember most of them, wish this town was still the same as it was then

We lived on Clinkham Wood estate & I bussed to Windlehurst School so I never saw the town. Interesting though, & I love the accompanying music.

such a pity with the march of 'progress' that like lots of towns, we lost so much character. bring back the cobbled streets, iron lamp posts & fountains :)

7:07 I think that’s Ormskirk St and the corner building on the right is my family’s medical practice that we had for 3 generations Dr Fox, Dr Denis O’ Donovan and Dr Barry O’Donovan
@margaretduvall96303 жыл бұрын
Yes, I remember the O’Donovan doctors well as they were my GP’s from being a child 1947 onward. Also in the same surgery were Dr’s Coffey, Burrell and Mather. The receptionist was another family member of yours, a Miss O’Donovan - very efficient, yet kind at heart I found.

Left to join the RN at 18. Best decision I ever made. I've lived all over the UK and St. Helens is the worst town. Depressing, dirty and forlorn.
