St Neots lost businesses, where are they now. I was going through my Facebook when I came across a post of old business adverts of many years ago. So I thought I have a look around and see if I could find where these st Neots businesses used to be. Come with me as I discover where they used to be. Thanks for watching…… Andy

Sadly the sames happening everywhere. Beales was big loss to St Neots. Cheers for the vid Andy

Hi Rapid man, yep, you’re right it was sad when Beales closed down. I also liked Burtons clothes shop as well and that’s gone as well. Cheers for watching

The stained glass windows in the Halifax Building Society are listed, they are not allowed to remove them. St Neots was once a small part of the parish of Eynesbury. The bones of Cornish Saint St Neot arrived and were kept in the priory (now Waitrose car park). Pilgrims came from afar to worship the consecrated (blessed) bones of St Neot. They needed to be fed and watered so the market square developed. Temporary buildings there became permanent as the pilgrims kept coming and St Neots thrived and grew. It is now the largest market town in Cambridgeshire.

Thanks for that Andy. We made it over from Canada and we are going to head for the farmer’s market today (Oct. 8). I will look for the stained glass in the Halifax. We’re flying back home on Thursday and today is the last opportunity we’ll have for a good explore. Cheers!!

That Italian restaurant, Il Girasole, is a great place to eat. As is the Bosphorous Turkish restaurant around the corner.
