This is episode one of three documenting my #pilgrimage from Oslo to Trondheim along the trail "Gudbrandsdalsleden". The trail follows one of the five medieval pilgrimage routes called #StOlavWays. I did this early Spring, started May 9th, in 2007. Congrats to you on your pilgrimage! It was an amazing journey, in fact I'd love to do it again...

Thank YOU Simon for sharing. WONDERFULL videos!!! I plan to make this way during next summer. I have a cuestion about the information. Días you find a guide for the way? I found some information in internet, but I would like to find something more complete (like camino de Santiago or Via Francigena, that I already did). For example to know in each stage if you can find water or food in between; the difficulties of each stage, accomodations, etc. I read that in Oslo there is a guide. I wondering If I can buy it before. I couldn’t find. What information did you carry to the Way? THANKS again. Alvaro from Uruguay.

Hallo Alvaro. And thank you for the nice comment! Here is a link to the pilgrim center in Oslo - you can find guidebooks in there: oslo.pilegrimsleden.no/en/about/about-pilgrimscenter-oslo/. You can download maps for free on that page as well. You pass through towns and supermarkets most days - so getting food is not a problem, except for sundays. Only when passing the Dovre mountains you will have to carry food for two-three days. Getting water is not a problem i Norway, and the locals will be more then happy to fill your bottle if you ask them. There is a list with, I think, 150 places to sleep along the St. Olavs Ways. If you send me a mailaddress I can send the list to you.

Hej Simon En super lækker video. Jeg skal snart selv afsted dog har jeg kun 3 dage ish at vandre i. Grundet corona og jeg nok er lidt sent ude, er det utroligt svært at komme højre op end Lillehammer med transport. Er det noget værd at gå fra lillehammer og ned af? Synes nemlig helt klart det ligner det er det sidste af ruten som er pænest i dine videoer. Tak på forhånd :)

Hej Markus 😊 Jeg synes at strækningen fra byen Dovre og til Oppdal er den mest spetakulære del af turen. Strækningen fra Lillehammer og sydpå er flot men går igennem ret meget bebyggelse og tæt på hovedveje. Jeg håber du kommer afsted. Hvis ikke i år, så på et senere tidspunkt.

This is great congratulations! I am planning on doing the same route next August but having trouble finding a good guide book in english, i can also understand/read danish...do you know of any danish guidebooks?

Det er altid meget motiverende med disse kommentarer og meget meningsfyldt at kunne give lidt vejledning/hjælp til andre som tænker på at gå en af pilgrimsruterne i Norge. Hello again Simon, hope all is well. Considering walking this to Otta. I'm just wondering, did you camp on your walk up or did you stay in DNT huts/ BnB's?

Hi Archie. All is well here - looking forward to getting back to the pre-pandemic normal again. You should absolutely do the walk! I had a small tent with me, but I spend every 5 night a so in a hut. There are a lot of options for cheap accomodation along the route. I hope all is well in your neck of he woods :-)
