What’s so damn crazy is Josh Koscheck is an elite wrestler who has an outstanding wrestling resume pre ufc that’s been wrestling damn near his whole life. GSP on the other hand never wrestled in school and has no wrestling resume before the ufc yet dominates elite wrestlers like Josh 😆. One of the reasons he is one of the 🐐’s.

Athletes like George St-Pier are far and few, he is an all around elite mixed martial artist and I feel fortunate to have been around to watch this master in action…what makes it even better is he is a class act/ humble human being 👏🏽

@@makefoxhoundgreatagain842 the only real thing that conflicts me is that Kamaru got caught but George got finished by Matt Serra so I’d say George’s stats will always be better Kamaru is rightfully the only person to contend even on freak incidents.

@@GertselShatz there's the duration as champ and title defenses for me. 6years for gsp 3years 5 months for usman, and 9 defenses for gsp and 5 for usman. I'll add kamaru only defended against three separate opponents, gsp defended against nine different people. And gsp is objectively a more well rounded fighter and athlete.

@@makefoxhoundgreatagain842 Tbf Usman was about to retain the belt but got caught freak accident and I truly don’t believe Kamaru would ever lose to Serra and the level of competition was also a bit different and hard to judge . Hendrix was beatin GSP’s Ass so let’s not forget that. It’s tough Kamaru is big and George a master of the arts. I say GSP could get a finish but Kamaru could pull a decision but now that I’m typing I think GSP takes Usman down and smashes him too. GSP better confirmed

One of my favorite wins of all time. Over time even more because Georges has proved himself a a true champ I didnt realize back then an Josh I totally forgot. At that time in my life I had never met a guy I liked with blonde tips.

Koscheck was actually a good contender in the WW division but was a huge ass, his fall was massive afterwards he hardly won a fight after his second fight with gsp

Koscheck leaving AKA is what caused his downfall. His own personality lead to a falling out with AKA's head coach Javier Mendez. Without any world-class coaches or sparring partners to push or teach him anything new, he quickly plateaued and soon faded.

If Kos went through a Muay Thai camp to improve his striking he could have been much more effective. That said, I don't think he ever beats GSP, no one in that era could, George's absolutely cleaned out that division.

this was the era of UFC that i payed a lot of attention to. not saying it's better than it is today, just when i had more time for it. as a canadian GSP was very interesting as well, so i'm sure that added to it.

Masvidal has said in the past how in retrospect, he wishes he would've learned wrestling young in life. Georges St. Pierre is rare. A guy who never wrestled in high school or college becomes the most dominant wrestler of his time. Nobody does that

Got to serve josh at abuelos Kissimmee fl and i knew he was so familiar he just didnt have this hair and i asked him are you a fighter? and he said retired so when he asked me who my fav fighter was i said gsp😂 i felt so bad cuz i grew up watching these fights it was such an honour to serve him and his fam im such a casual for not realizing

For those wondering what Big John McCarthy was saying to GSO during the Kimura is that the rules state you can't grab your opponents shorts but you can grab your own, which is how Koscheck was defending the Kimura with only one arm.

I knew Josh when he was in college, and talked to him right before the St. Pierre fight. His bad guy personna was an act to build interest in the bouts, at home in PA he was a private, but affable man.

posted weight is what they weigh at weigh in, not fight day. most fighters cut weight for weigh in, some more than others.

I am so curious if GSP would be able to take Usman down. Usman has better takedown defense than josh but I think josh was an NCAA national champion so he has serious wresling pedigree and GSP out wrestled him with relative ease. And GSP was one of the first mma fighters to implement a really good jab. The game has evolved so much

@@fishwatch8677 Not quite, GSP did get some takedowns on Johnny but he wasn't to control him for very long or really use his patented GnP. Johnny was able to control GSP and land good GnP shots on him during the fourth round of the fight. Both guys were 50% for their takedowns with GSP landing 3 of his 6 and Johnny 2 of his 4.

@@fishwatch8677 I recommend re-watching it, its a classic in terms of how good the fight was irrespective of the judges decision. Very similar vein to DJ vs Cejudo 2; excellent fight overshadowed by outcome.
