Fr Mark, my experience has convinced me that prayer and progress in prayer is essential, the presence of the Trinity in the soul is key. All we can really do is surrender and increase our capacity for the divine. I believe St Paul said I must decrease so He can increase.

Very caring again Fr Mark to have this teaching.That bit especially is very true about the priests and nuns and anyone who would be leading ministry, should be at least on the third or even fourth mansion before being allowed anywhere near souls,. This would need powerfully guided spiritual directors to sense/confirm this at any interview stage. St Teresa herself said she was harmed by half knowledgeable priests, who did not know how to guide her correctly or know what she was experiencing. Any person who will be responsible for any soul in their care ie priest/nun/religious leader needs to make sure they are ready spiritually- this would ensure many innocent souls would not suffer from misguided religious/laity guiding others or the scandals in the church currently

One of my favourite passages from the “Interior Castle” is when St. Teresa states, “His appeals come from the conversations of good people, or from sermons, (ie: Father Mark’s KZfaq videos) or from the reading of good books (ie: Father Mark’s School of Reading); and there are many other ways, of which you have heard, in which God calls us. Or they come through sicknesses and trials, or by means of truths which God teaches us at times when we are engaged in prayer, however feeble such prayers may be, God values them highly.” (Second Mansions) This quote reminds me so much of what you try to teach us through your ministry Father. Been slowly wading through Interior Castles. Think I'm stuck in the moat. lol For some reason, these really deep spiritual books elude me. Thank you for simplifying it all. Although, I'm marking this for a second watch, because I was working on something that required my attention while listening. These longer format interviews you do are terrific, BTW! next can you do St Ignatius spiritual exercises? My poor brain could not get through even the first section.

I offer , not a great synopsis , but I hope it helps somebody *First mansion . Although we have left the outer darkness and things are new to us , we are still in love with occasions of sin. Light is , in reality , dim . The gravitational pull of the world , the flesh and the devil are still formidable . Challenge is to make news choices with new people . * Second Mansion Making different choices must continue . Choose immersion in Bible , Prayer , Christian Fellowship . Choosing is very important . Urgent to make choices that nurture the supernatural life within . *Third Mansion have attained a high standard of virtue , by God's Grace , but still low capacity to supernaturally love . Identifying of wounds caused by sin damage and choose to cooperate with the Holy Spirit in the sanctification process. Throw logs on the Holy Fire by reading good spiritual books , scripture , sermons , good Christian friends , PRAYER , etc. God may withdraw consolation to see if we are choosing God for His own sake or just for what He gives us . Our efforts may seem dry and fruitless . Stay the course , regardless of feelings . Choose to trust Him . *Fourth Mansion Servile fear begins to diminish . Fear lessens as a motivational force . We enter into the supernatural life. Gravitational pull of sin lessens a lot . Quiet , interior , communion with God , still enough to hear the still small voice. It can seem like a " dark night " experience . Press on . Trust . Prayer becomes more infused by God than self- driven . We learn to "see" God , to " hear" God , to commune with God . Trust the ebbs and flows . God's got you ! Fifth Mansion ... Falling in love with God . Spiritual b *Sixth Mansion Second dark night . Deep purification . Increasing favor and increasing affliction , which exposes the dross of self left in us . Where are we motivated by self , rather than by love of God . Do not turn back . Press on .. The affliction can be public and tragic and seemingly a betrayal by God Himself . Cling to Him . He will never leave you or forsake you . Seventh Mansion Marriage to and....union with God , Worth every temptation , pain , crises . Worth EVERYTHING .
