Always admired people who could sing and also play some contrapuntal riffs on an instrumental at the same time. So hard to do.

That guitar has more name brand components stuffed into it than you could wrap your head around. An unmolested original Harmony would not have the output to even be considered useful in a live setting. She has a a good tech and money out the wah-zoo.

When I watch her videos on you tube, it's strange to me how many so called "real guitarists"(self proclaimed) talk shit about her playing technique. they seem to be very mean about it also. Her playing is solid & quite original, (especially when you consider that in modern music, it's ALL been done before) her writing is excellent, & her melodic sensibility is exquisite. Add to that her vocal ability, and that's why she gets the attention she gets, all well deserved. So, word to the haters out there - she doesn't fucking need you! She's just too nice (and confident) to bother saying that.

@ClumsySandbocks9 жыл бұрын
To be honest I was really looking for a target to compare against St Vincent so I could point out how ridiculous your standards are. This is well beyond the average level of a pop guitarist. The guitar she plays is more technically impressive then anything played by Nirvana, Oasis, or REM and is definitely on level with the more riffler bands of the Noughties like the Strokes, Arctic Monkeys etc. Are you comparing her to Chet Atkins or Tommy McLaughlin or something? I find her work enjoyable and I don't like coming across your borderline obsessive hate comments about her.
@austinmitchell25447 жыл бұрын
I like her work but I don't think it's more technically impressive to play and sing than a lot of NIrvana's riffs +rhythms.
@nguyenchinh73497 жыл бұрын
I think Nirvana is a bit overated just as much as Prince. Awesome personalities (mindset) yeah, but legendary artists... no (especially their boring vocal skills and songwriting). Annie Clark is in the direction of artists like Kraftwerk, who takes so much shit for not doing it in a traditional athletic way. She plays guitar like a synth sometimes and she doesn't give a shit about bitter snobs. Music is music, not everybody's begging to be ticked in the pathetic "real rock" box.
