I'm usually sharing my magic at home with my flatmates or at our MagicSoc meetings at uni. But I love involving strangers, them being so unsuspecting and truly emotional...just priceless!

You are a genius! I've seen other magicians doing the same trick but they usually tear a part of the bill to create a secret passage for the pencil but you are just amazing that you improvised a new method of doing the same trick without breaking money. Excellent!

Jay, I absolutely love the stabbed + restored, I'm 60 years old , always loved magic, but just started learning , Iv watched all your videos , I love all your tricks, and I love the way you teach, you make it very easy to follow, you also have something about you that nobody else has, it the way you stand, the way you look at your audience, the way you talk, you have something special, that you could you never teach, or sell, Anyway between you and Brian Bushwood , I have been quite surprised to learn how some tricks work, sometimes disappointing when you learn how a trick is done. Anyway I will go on watching you and learning from you . Thank you so much, Best Regards Andy P/s It was good to see you on Penn n Teller, it was only on 2 days ago, But I had already seen your video on how you did trick them, without them knowing . WELL DONE,
@belleque

According to 18 U.S.C. § 333 - U.S. Code - Unannotated Title 18. Crimes and Criminal Procedure § 333. Mutilation of national bank obligations, "Whoever mutilates, cuts, defaces, disfigures, or perforates, or unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking association, or Federal Reserve bank, or the Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt unfit to be reissued, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both." So, making a one into a five would be illegal (fraud), but so would smearing blood or a toxic substance on a bill (unfit to be reissued).

I perform mainly at, or around my university. I try to borrow things people have on them and work with what they have. Harry Lorayne always said that if you use your own deck of cards (this I found can be applied to any prop); then you lose 40 - 50% of the impact. Great trick btw!

I like the dough analogy, but when i perform this trick, I like to talk about how people think that money is made of paper when, in fact, its made of fibers and strands like a rug or a piece of cloth. The pencil (letter opener, knife, etc.) separates the fibers and then you "weave" them back in place. I usually do my tricks at home and work. My kids and co-workers are my test audiences for new tricks.
