Stability and compatibility test is one of the tests that cosmetic products placed on the EU market need to undergo. Stability and compatibility test is required by the EU cosmetics regulation 1223/2009.
A stability test is conducted in order to determine the shelf life of cosmetic products. Companies can perform either an accelerated or a real-time stability test. Accelerated stability test normally takes 3 months and is conducted at 40 degrees Celsius. Alongside product stability, companies need to check also compatibility between the product and its packaging.
