Love the content on the channel! I started golfing about 12 years. My first set was a set of Calloway Big Berthas from the early 2000s. I still play with that set until this day! Now turned into somewhat of a collector of vintage clubs! Keep bringing the great reviews!

It’s so true ...all this “new” golf technology you can find in a lot of old clubs. -I’m just like you guys, it’s usually more fun for me to try out the old stuff than the new stuff. New clubs don’t excite me like hitting some old wood or an old set of Mizuno’s to see what they do, and if anything really changed....usually not

I really enjoy this channel. My buddy is new to golf and wanted his own clubs, but he’s on a budget. We hit up good-will by us and he got hooked up with a full set and a really nice bag for $15. Thanks to your videos, I was able to think of the idea and get him over to the deal!

I just found your Chanel not too long ago and I love it! I was looking to get into golf but being a lefty it was hard to find decent price used clubs. Thanks to you guys I decided to check my good will right down the street from my house and to my surprise I found a lightly used set if lefty golf club for insanely cheap! The only thing it was missing was a lefty driver. So now I'm on the look out hitting every thrift store and good will I see to find a driver ! Thank you guys so much keep up the good content !

Wilson Reflex!.... I used to have a full set that my old folks bought me for Xmas in 1990 second hand from a local golf shop for £50.... had them for 7 months before I bought my first set of brand new Mizuno Astron G2 irons.... Hello from the U.K.!!!.... I’ve not hit a golf ball in 15 years but love watching your channel!....👍🏻

If still available, you should consider the Tony Pena Spalding set. Any Wilson, Ben Hogan, Titleist, Ping, and Spalding woods are worth purchasing. All but the Ping are persimmon--the Ping is maple.

You're earlier today, normally its 11pm UK. Probably a better time for Europe as its when all the others over here post their vids. The plates on the wooden woods were to protect them I'd have thought. I once got given some of those Sam Sneads and a chunk of one of the pieces of wood was broken off the driver. I had 1, 3 & 5 and I passed them on to someone else when I got my first big driver. Another great vid, hope those Callaways do the job for Ashley

Great find on the complete set of Big Bertha Irons. The Persimmon woods were a good score also. Same goes for the Zebra putter...they were made popular by Raymond Floyd, he won many tournaments using one.

I keep an actual set of Persimmon woods on display in my office. They are the 1,3,4 and 5Ws. The driver is a Ben Hogan, the 3 and 5Ws are Jack Nicklaus signatures and the 4W is a MacGregor, which is a Nicklaus brand club. I tried hitting them a couple times just for old times sake but now they are just for displaying in the home office.

Zebra putter-yes!! Strangely enough, I dug my old one out about a month ago and did a rehab on it. New paint job, new grip. I used to rock that thing so well. Makes you wonder why you change things. Haven’t got out on the course yet to use it, but I’m putting better with it on the practice putting mat than I am with my current putter. Golf is weird...or maybe it’s the golfers that are weird! Good to see Pops out there!!

Have the same zebra putter! Have had it for probably 30 years. Love it! Has such a great feel to it. Can really feel impact of hitting a golf ball. You can add weight to it under head under cover.👍🇨🇦

OMG! Thrifting for golf clubs?! I love it!!! U guys are awesome!!!

I got inspired and managed to find a set of Wilson Dave Marr blades 2-9, golden bear sand wedge, a leather Wilson bag, Dunlop putter. Also found a Ben Hogan Apex 4, and Ben Hogan Medallion 5. The Savior 24 loft hybrid has been pretty interesting in the bag, other than needing to be regripped, the distance for me ranges from 150-175 on a good day. Thanks for inspiring me to get some clubs and start playing!

My first set handed down were the Sam Snead blue ridge irons and those red woods. Zebra putter is an icon. Incredible find!

Just a little FYI for future episodes... When it comes to actual wood woods, there are laminated woods and persimmon. The laminated woods (the cheaper ones) are the ones with layers glued together. The Persimmon woods are made from a single solid piece of hard wood. Better players used the solid piece drivers. Then, of course, Taylormade used “Pittsburgh Persimmon” but that’s something else all together. That Wilson 3 wood in the video looks laminated.

Thst was a Wilson 8802 you picked up before the baby vans. It was a very popular pro golfer putter. Nicholas and Greg Norman used that model in the 80s.

I swear, in Michigan, Play It Again Sports is the only place to find decent used golf equipment, and it’s usually still overpriced, less a couple random gems. Love the videos! Keep it up!!

I had the Sam Snead woods but they weren’t persimmon they were laminated had a “strata-bloc” transfer on the toe! They were a very pale colour with a white insert/black roundel on the insert face. The original grips were really thin and the driver weighed 15 1/2 oz with the steel shaft!

My uncle had those Reflex irons and sold them to my brother. The channel combined with the rear cavity was supposed to (if I remember right) increase the rebound of the face and give you more distance!

On the persimmon vs. laminated maple wood heads: the persimmons are more traditional and even older technology, but the moisture content in the laminated maple heads was much easier to control during manufacturing. The laminated heads were way more consistent. In addition, the persimmons could crack. The laminated woods didn't split as often as persimmon.

When you reach your Dad’s age Jon, you’ll know why you may need a jock strap! I noticed a Super concord wood(Tightlies knock off). I put a 3 wood on the green in two from 240 with one of those. It had a nice aldila shaft in it. Bought it new in 1992.

Walmart has a bunch of golf stuff on clearance rn fyi...Those pink nitro balls you tested were marked down to $4.50 box. Recycled ProV1's for $11/doz. There are some "Big Bursars" at one thrift by me, got me the first time too!

I still have a set of the Cadillac C-1 woods. The 5 wood and 3 wood are still in my bag, had to retire the driver in favor of a Ping G400 though. The technology is outdated but a solid strike on them feels amazing, and I've gotten so used to using them that I don't plan on replacing them any time soon.
