I'm currently in California unfortunately until the middle of April and the sales tax on bullion here when you spend less than 2000 dollars is just one of it's ridiculous taxes and laws. One of the most tyrannical places on the planet and the residents are willing to accept it to the point where they also will snitch on people. I had a police officer stop me while I was walking on a street in downtown Glendale because a woman told the cop that she saw me jay walking. I told him I was from Texas and they taught us to look both ways before crossing the street when we were capable of walking and maybe even crawling and I didn't need the state to tell me how to cross a street. He was really angry when I told him I was from Texas, more that because I was a Jay Walker. California is beautiful, but too many residents here don't understand freedom.

My 2c, my reason comes from my grandfather. Buy as low as you can. Buy what you want. Stack generic when cheap, and understand that nothing truly "hedges" inflation, you stack to store your wealth.

No it really doesn't. As another commenter mentioned is just an alternative way of saving your Fiat currency. It's not an investment, it's not a hedge against inflation. They are really speculative assets. Which could become liabilities if when you go to cash them in if you get less than what you paid for them. Don't mess with speculative assets until you've got every other base covered and a nice stash of emergency money.

No tax if you buy from Canada. Also buy in no tax states and have them ship - they often won't collect tax for Cali.

They sure did, 2 years ago. It sucks... BUT, it keeps the riff-raff out of the store. Folks dealing in a few coins here and there ALWAYS command the most time and attention, to the exclusion of those who know exactly what we want, and will be in and out quickly. It motivates one to stay disciplined until you have >$2k in your pocket.

I grew up next door to Thomaston , Maine , from Rockland originally , then moved to So. Thomaston years ago . I never just buy gold or silver alone . I don't keep all my eggs in 1 basket so to speak .
