Stacyc Battery Adapter Upgrade

Purchasing a large OEM Stacyc battery will cost $200, plus you'll have to lug the extra battery along on longer rides. If you already have tool batteries all you need is the battery adapter, a switch, and wire connectors. All this cost me $15 and I don't have to take an extra battery in a backpack on our longer rides. This upgrade was a win-win for us.

That looks nice! I got that the positive goes to the switch. How about the negative? Where did you connect it? Thanks!

I split the negative into 2 wires and ran one to each battery.

I’ve got a couple craftsman adapters for power wheels. What gauge wire should I look for on the adapter I get for the stacyc?

I don't know. I've got a wire bin that just has old wires from other things I've taken apart. I just tried to match the same size wire that the Stacyc had. As long as it's close I don't think it matters too much. I've had it set up this way for a year now and my son uses it a couple times a week and it's holding up well.

Nice layout..you ran all 4 wires to that one switch you added?

No it's a three prong switch.

Hi, how does it get battery in ne neutral Position? You stick all black together? Can you discripe ehe wiriring a Little Bit More please? How is it working with a stop at low battery damage with the second one?

I spliced a wire into the negative wire for the original battery and ran the spliced wire to my added battery. I pulled the power wire running to the original battery and ran the power to the switch on the middle terminal and then ran a wire from the switch to both batteries.

@@Adventure72Awaits ok and in the neutral position it gets the power from the blue or green wire? This doesn't wort without the original battery in front right?

@@Mo-Moto it works without the original battery because both batteries have power and ground running to them.

@@Adventure72Awaits I watched the video again and then you said it again. in the neutral its not on. I thought the beeb of the throttle was in the Off Position. now its clear thanks.

I ran a similar set up on my sons and it pops the fuse when i turn it on. Power to power ground to group. I did not use a switch just planned to run one battery at a time. Any thoughts as to why it pops the fuse?
