I'm pleasantly surprised. Most of the stations are much cleaner and architecturally more interesting than in other parts of Germany.

Das beste daran sind mehrere Sachen: -stellt sich provokant vor die Kamera -sie weiß nicht, ob er nicht sogar eine Genehmigung hat -eine Genehmigung ist nicht erforderlich -man hätte es auch einfach ignorieren können 🤣🤣🤣

Took me a while to notice some of these metro station platforms are dual height platforms. They appear to handle standard metro trains and street tram style trains. Very unusual train station concept. Of course this restricts train lengths to two passenger cars at a time instead of the normal four to five you see in other cities. My city, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada still uses German Duwag build Siemens U2 type trains and we recently had them completely overhauled like new. These older Siemens U2 type trains are better then the newer US built Siemens K trains.

These cities are all not that huge and usually don't need the capacity. The added versatility by allowing trams in the tunnels is a major upside however

Ein schöner Film aus dem Jahre 1993. Zumindest könnte der Eindruck entstehen, wenn man sieht, daß auf den Info-Tafeln beim Hbf Duisburg noch das alte Bahn-Logo steht. Soviel zum Thema moderner Nahverkehr im Ruhrgebiet ;-) Trotzdem ein schönes Video!

9:28 Idk why but Bamlerstraße station always reminded me of a tube station on the Jubilee Line extension (here in the UK) without the platform edge doors...

It is possible to do Bochum-Gelsenkirchen-Essen-Mülheim-Oberhausen-Mülheim-Duisburg-Düsseldorf-Krefeld within one day (only traveling by tram and stadtbahn) and that includes exploring the cities on foot a little bit (usually the pedestrian zones near the corresponding railway stations)

10:40 DLR P86/P89 train! In case you don't know these trains used to run on the Docklands Light Railway in London UK.

The last Sequenz is The new Underground Subway from the Station Bilk S-Bahnhof to S-Bahnhof Werhahn. With undergroundCrossing the undergroundstation Heinrich Heine Allee. U71 U72 U73 and U83 drives in this Underground Lines.

I'm from Frankfurt and i recently visited Essen and Düsseldorf and i think that the stations are very clean and are very nice. The rolling stock is getting a little outdated though

Btw: the EVAG doesn't exist anymore. It was replaced by the Ruhrbahn.

what a great impression to see all the ruhr area cities' systems in one film! I live in Bochum, and the ruhr area citizens from f.e. Duisburg only know the DVG-world, from Essen only the Ruhrbahn-world, from Bochum the Bogestra-world, because all the trafffic companies behave like enemies who dont like each other

also: in Düsseldorf everyone complains about Rheinbahn (even with insults) when there's a single wagon on U79, even though its mostly DVGs fault (downward spiral, not enough wagons, Duisburg has no money left for public transport etc...) most people dont even understand such simple things happening right around them...

genau. ich bekomm das auch jeden schultag mit ich nimm dann meistens die eine verstärkerbahn die ca 7:42 am klemensplatz abfährt, oder wenn ich in eine der volleren bahnen davor noch komme steige ich am freiligrathplatz um. so bin ich dann trotzdem meistens in der innenstadt pünktlich zur schule.

I have only used them once, because I commute via S train. That time was in Düsseldorf to reach an anime con, haha. But damn, despite it's unforunate name, Graf-Adolf-Platz has such a precious station.

Remember, the name Adolf existed long before it was devaluated by a particular person. Graf Adolf († 28. or 29. September 1296), the former Duke of Berg has nothing to do with this unfortunate person, and as a matter of fact, the Swedish king is named Gustav-Adolf. So I think a name itself is innocent and not responsible for the person who wears it.

I’ve recently moved to Dortmund and I’m will need to start using public transport in March. Do you know much about the tickets? If I buy a 7 day ticket from a shop does it cover the bus and trains?

The huge Rhine-Ruhr-Area inclusive Düsseldorf are in a traffic transport association (VRR). So a ticket from this is valid in all U-trains, trams, busses and local trains (not wide area trains like IC, EC or ICE!)

Stadtbahn Rhein Ruhr? It's just the light rail from Essen, Düsseldorf and Duisburg. (in 7:12, it's an old train from a line in London, idk which line)

The old train is the from the DLR(Docklands Light Railway) in London.
