White Set Plastering
With the roof in place, your house is now sheltered and the white set Plastering phase can begin. Although the plasterers work quickly, the drying process requires significant downtime between each coat. Since the walls comprise a large proportion of your home's visible surfaces. It's worth the wait to achieve a sleek robust finish.
To make sure the bricks are dry, Blueprint Construction Supervisors carry around moisture meters. We check the bricks to make sure they're okay to render. This is very important. If there's too much moisture in the brickwork, you can get dry - cracking and issues with your plaster later down the track. If this happens the reason is that the render has not adhered properly to the brickwork. Weather conditions will determine the time it takes for the brickwork to dry.
Due to slight variations in each float mix patches used to feel low points can present different colors to the rest of the wall, but these will be completely obscured by the white set plaster coat. While the gray float coat is curing the ceilings are installed. Then the set plaster coat is applied.
White set is white for aesthetic purposes. This is also means it doesn't have to be painted straightaway. Three coats are administered - each finer than the last resulting in a sturdy presentable finish. White set plaster takes a minimum of 12 weeks to set as moisture can appear in the walls during this time. Dull gray stains will fade naturally. It is strongly recommended not to have your wall sealed or painted within 12 weeks of the plaster application as the paint will trap moisture within the plaster compromising the surface integrity.
To be absolutely certain your painter should conduct moisture and acidity tests before commencing work. Throughout the rest of the build. The plaster is exposed to other working trades and may suffer the occasional scrape or chip. Your painter will rectify these blemishes prior to painting.
With the white set plaster and ceilings in place your house now feels like a real home. You can appreciate the size of each room and experience the play of light throughout the entire building.
