Preston bus station is a listed building. It was opened in 1969, in 2013 it was granted Grade 2 listing The X2 is a handy service, especially Mon - Sat as it gets into Liverpool earlier than the first train from Southport. At Crossens several bus routes terminate, it's close to the Merseyside - West Lancashire boarder. The blue Arriva double decker in the bus stand is route 47. The 47 is a near identical route to the X2 into Liverpool, apart from a small deviation into small communities. There are three bus routes and the Merseyrail electric train service between Southport and Liverpool. Birkdale, where the bus crossed the railway at the level crossing is where Red Rum trainer Ginger McCain had his stables. Southport born comedian Lee Mack at the age of 16 was a stable lad for Ginger and looked after Red Rum.

Beautiful and touching. Brings back great memories from my student years' journeys from Preston to Liverpool and Manchester almost 18 years ago! Love from Greece.

So glad that woman got to Aldi in Birkdale. I was fair worried for her. As for those schoolkids who got on at Bootle, it's probably just as well I couldn't make out a damn word they said...

I'm a regular visitor to Brighton. Seeing those Maghull Coaches school buses, (ex-Brighton and Hove), I could believe I was travelling through the residential streets of Hove and out along the A27 rather than in and around Southport...

You should take a look at Stagecoach in Bedford, every bus we have is used not a single new bus, we get everyone’s hand downs from east, when they get new buses, last new buses we got 2012, we have three of the new ADL Enviro DD. But on loan only due to COVID. And our fares are the highest in the eastern region

Rattlely bus is down to bad maintenance. A good bus company employs a coach builder either full time or part time to carry out body maintenance ie tightening screws and bolts when the bus comes in for scheduled servicing. The driver did well only going through 2 red lights.

@@-M0LE I was travelling very recently on a more-or-less 'standard' Stagecoach Manchester double-decker (in the '104xx' series) when I noticed the severe vibration coming and going from the plain glass upper-deck window-vent above my seat. Maybe the absence of any metal- or plastic frame around these pull-to-open vents allows the glass to vibrate easily. The Scania in the video apoears to have more than a few loose panels, unless the roads/steeets it's travelling over are really to blame.

Insane bus journey. I don’t really see the point. Be quicker to get the train.
@edwardlack25783 жыл бұрын
Without doing research, it might be there's not a direct train link. We run a service from Northampton depot up to Leicester, no direct train between the two so people do use it. Takes about 1hr 30-40 mins each way depending on the time of day and the timetable.
@neilcrawford83033 жыл бұрын
I see your point, but as someone who lives on the X2 route near Southport, it's easier to get the bus to Preston than the train. We either have to go from Southport to Wigan Wallgate, walk to Wigan North Western and get a train to Preston, get the train from Southport to Burscough Bridge, walk for 25 minutes to Burscough Junction station and get the (covid timetable) two hourly service to Preston, or get a train into Liverpool and a train to Preston. It also links plenty of places inbetween that don't have a railway link.
@davidpanton31923 жыл бұрын
Yes, there are plenty of trains between Preston and Liverpool, but because a bus has two destinations it doesn't mean they expect many people (or anybody) would go the whole way!
