Check your voltage regulators on the power board to make sure they are putting out the correct output voltage. I had the same problem and IC803 was bad (low output voltage) which is a -15v 1.5A regulator. Replaced it with an L7915CV and it works perfectly now.

Randall, I have my Stagepas 300 open ready to do the repair you suggested. How do I find IC803 on the board? Can you email me? tomkositchek@gmail.com

Gary, thanks for the reply. I'm still using the original cables, so I'm not sure that is my problem. Oddly enough, it only happens once of twice a year now. And yes, same issue with mine - when I unplug it for a minute it (usually) comes back.

Hey did you ever get that unit fixed. I have one that just started doing this
@divens22211 жыл бұрын
Yes and no, it happens much less frequently, maybe once or twice a year now, but it does still happen.
@reynaldomasumbol7845 ай бұрын
Have you fixed it. Mine has problem like that. It has power and sound, after few seconds immediately off.

Ric, thanks for the tip! I hate to ask this, and I do have a multimeter, but how do I check the ohms? I assume on tip has to be on the end of the speaker wire, but where do I tap the other end?
@divens22211 жыл бұрын
True that it only does it when the speakers are plugged in, but I have tested the speakers with other amps and they work flawlessly and other speakers plugged into this amp still have the same issue - so I think it is localized to the amp itself.

Mine is the same issue but electric shock present in the chassis. Can you help me to troubleshoot the problem.?

same issue. I plug them in an onyx now but the sound is low.

That's a blown amp...the output stages...mine had done the same thing...just make sure your connections aren't shorting out the next time you use it after it's fixed...it's pretty evident that the output stages are blown...Same thing on mine...but I got it fixed so yeah...

You have to use the original cables that come with the Stagepas from what I have read - ie. they must be calibrated somehow. I had 2 stagepas failures when using ones supplied by my booking agent. I know he had longer cables supplied with one of them at least. I still bought my own stagepas 300 cos their so convenient and have never seen the problem (and have always used cables supplied). Have a different prob now cos it was dropped and now doesnt work:(

Sorry Spike, it's not a dead power supply, the unit does still work (mostly). And it's not the holes either since I have patched up the holes and the same issue exists.

cute reply.... #1 - I didn't know it had holes. The craigslist seller just happened to "forget" to show me the holes in the pics.

These units are fan cooled. Can you hear the fan working?
@DerekTJ13 жыл бұрын
Did you get this sorted?
@Spiike7513 жыл бұрын
I think that in every cases the power supply puts in security mod... So 2 possibilities: The power supply is dead The cooling system perturbated by filled holes , and heat cannot goes out, and the power supply put itself in security mod.... Good luck

yeah, the fan is working.

Probably a bad ground or cold solder joint or, bad capacitor? Capacitors sometimes go bad then heal themselves.
@ricfamilara192911 жыл бұрын
with the power off using an ohmmeter, pull out the cable from the speaker side and check the resistance of the output of the amplifier. if it does'nt read Zero ohms, the short would be on the power supply of the system. do this on both channels.

if u try sent music notign go out before POP ? in the mixer u have capacitor or other with burn mark ? loss power = capacitor failed can create a insufficient power system shut down for speaker protect

A common issue with these is that someone accidentally substitutes instrument cables for speaker cables, resulting in amp-strain, overheating, and damage.

I didn't get it fixed. But what i found with this thing is that it needs to be used regularly. Then it works fine.

It's shit. We have an acoustic duo playing at pubs etc, and it has maxed out twice in two gigs and shuts down. You can't use expensive speaker cables etc,so it's pretty much useless for an enviroment where more than 3 people and a dog are in attendance Fuck that, I'm taking it back and trading it for some powered speakers to match my small Mackie desk. Shit product,not recommended at all if youre a muso. Buy something else
