We're doing a new glass terrarium today! This time with a new design with an open top for easy access for plants and anything else you want to put in it. This project is perfect for that 3D work you've been wanting to try, nice simple four-piece and all straight cuts. Bonus work with jump rings and finally got the steps down for the perfect copper patina.

Hi, love this, will make one tmw for my son, his apartment is super small but he would love an air plant. I also find for copper patina, scrub super well immediately before applying the patina mix, and I use a toothbrush to apply it, so it's fast and gets in all the small areas. Thanks again for your ideas and tips, happy weekend to all from blustery Glasgow, Scotland ❤️

Good morning, Thanks for this well demonstrated, clear and concise tutorial. For me, this was the best tutorial for a little noobie like me. I appreciated the fact that you gave a list of tools and revealed little mistakes to help us avoid these and to show us that it is ok to commit little errors. Very excited to start learning to make this. Hopefully can send you a photo. Thumbs-upped and subscribed.❤

Just want to second what Jamie Taylor said, it's best to attach the hanging points on a join, not on unsupported seams as the weight will eventually pull the foil away from the glass. Apart from that it's looking great :-)

Thank you! I think it's true if the piece is heavy but I've never had a problem with hanging it wherever but it's good practice for sure!

The project came out great! Nice copper finish. Similar to what others have commented below I have been told to put the rings at the joints rather than tips due to the potential of foil pulling away but if you have a good solder blop over the ring on both sides of the tip since it is angled then it should be fine.😎😎

Thanks! I agree it's also so light that it's not really an issue and never had a problem.

I haven't been doing stained glass long enough myself to see it but I see a lot of people recommend putting the jump rings at the end of your solder lines instead of just on the glass. Just something I've heard that I wanted to pass to you!

Yes thanks for noting that! It's best to put jump rings at a join but my projects are so light that's never been an issue.

This looks awesome! However, I wanted to let you know that copper will kill air plants. It's the one metal that they can't handle. I guess I'm not sure if the copper foil remains exposed after the soldering and patina process, but just wanted to get the information out that air plants do not like copper. Love watching your videos.

Thanks for the tip! I will keep an eye out. So far my other terrarium project and air plant has been fine so maybe the copper is covered and fine? 🤷🏻

Thank you for the beautiful video. I’m looking for a video of how to make a hinged glass locket with a lock used for pressed dried flowers and I’m hoping if you could help. Thank you 🙏🏻

Hi, you'll want to use lead-free solder for those types of projects since it'll be on the skin but I may try some hinge type of work in the future

Thanks for all your great videos! I'm just getting into it and you're a huge inspiration. What kind of glasses/goggles are those that you showed before cutting the glass? Is there a certain kind or brand you recommend?
