Looks great^^ What do you think of the Idea of pouring Resin in there?
@makeup.by.ash04

I was gonna say that!!! But that wood is gonna soak it all up. Idk if they’re gonna have to pour over the whole thing or if they can stabilize the edges of the round part

That’s what I was thinking too, but idk how it would react with the wood

Blacktail Studio has some really helpful info about this! It would have been possible before she added the fish and the stained glass. But the interior live edge would need cleaning (ie sanding / filing / dremel-ing) to remove any loose parts, then sealing with painted-on resin. At that point you’d add the stained glass and fish, and *then* the hollow could have resin poured inside.

Resin isn’t a great option for art tbh.

I didn’t know other artists did this. I have a collection of wood I intend to use, all broken or interesting pieces. I’m just trying to learn the skills to properly utilize it all! Going to have to follow this! 💜

And now I find myself wondering how many people have boxes of art supplies that we are “saving for the perfect project”, only to have them sold for coins when we are gone. I’m going to pick something I was saving for a future perfect project and just use it now

You should use resin or clear dry glue on top to make it look even more cool or even to add something on the wood with clay👌

Looks like somewhere I could spend hours digging through. That would be my grandfather's blood speaking. He was a carpenter by trade and a wood artist in his heart and soul. The things he would make from something that looked like junk wood was amazing. ❤

I love that. It’s so pretty, I feel it would make a nice welcome piece in the hallway of a UK house. (I say Uk because I don’t know the general layout of American houses, but in Uk we usually have thin hallways leading from the front door to other rooms.)

Y’all are really pressed thinking a family sold this woman’s art on FB… you guys this is a pile of scraps Eleanor hadn’t gotten to for 101 years… It looks more like she was a bit of a hoarder (same, girl) and her family didn’t know what to do with everything so found someone who will not only take her scraps, but make them into something beautiful. Now, Eleanor may not have loved this art (remember in Julie and Julia when Julia Childs hated Julie’s project?) but that’s not for any of us to decide, and we will never know, but I’d like to think any artist would just be happy their scraps didn’t end up in the landfill and were able to make someone smile.
