We needed to replace a stair landing and we came up with the idea to use the DowelMax jig. I think it turned out pretty excellent and its smooth using 3/8 dowels. DowelMax Jig Link www.dowelmax.com

Getting jiggy with it. Nice work. That oak landing will be nice and solid feeling. AKA: Not builder grade feeling.

Yah man. Definitely not builder grade.

There is no doubt the dowelmax is nice. But I saved myself some money and bought the dowel jig from Jessem. It works just as well and come with a wall mount to display everything. you also end up getting 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 plates for less than the Dowelmax.

I looked at the Jessem and most likely will get that as well. Shortly after getting the DowelMax I needed to install 1/4 dowels but I didn’t have that part for my jig so I made due. I like how the Jessem indexes off a dowel to transfer dowel placement to another piece. That’s definitely a pro for it. The build quality is beyond expectations in the DowelMax so I’ll be interested how they compare. Appreciate the comment.

Is this jig better that a Festool Domino?

Will that landing expand and contract with humidity changes? It's a lot of plain wood boards...
@campbellbuiltАй бұрын
With it being indoors (climate controled) the boards should all react at the same rate. It’s basically like glueing up a table top.

@@campbellbuilt Yes, and I saw woodworkers explaining how such table top isn't rigidly attached to the base, hence my question.
@campbellbuiltАй бұрын
@@weekendwarrior3420 fair enough question. Time will tell but I don’t believe there’s going to be a problem. If it does I’ll make a video explaining it. The size is probably what will help me the most that it only has limited area to expand and contract. Good comment.
