Mixing Tusk's nail shooting abilities with his knowledge of the Spin technique, Johnny is able to Evolve his Stand Tusk into new forms the further he expands his knowledge. In this video we take a look at all 4 Acts and analyse it's appearance, abilities and strengths/weaknesses. I also throw in some of my own theories.

Tusk is the Stand of Johnny Joestar, the alternate universe version of Jonathan Joestar. Along with his trusted companion, Gyro Zeppeli, the duo set out on a journey to acquire the Saints Corpse parts to keep them away from the President of the USA, Funny Valentine.
Johnny's Stand; Tusk, is an evolving Stand which features in Part 7 of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga: Steel Ball Run. Tusk came to Johnny when he acquired the left arm of the corpse, eventually joining him and linking with his spirit.
As Gyro steadily teaches Johnny more about the Spin technique across Steel Ball Run, Johnny managed to evolve his Stand, Tusk, into Act 2, Act 3 and eventually Act 4.
Tusk Act 1 is a juvenile, mammalian Stand which helps Johnny locate the next Corpse Part, and giving him the Spinning Nails ability. This makes Johnny able to shoot off his names like sharp bullets.
Next, it evolves to Tusk Act 2 which allows Johnny to create jet black bullet holes which lock onto a target. The infinite spin on his nails create this ability.
Tusk Act 3 allows Johnny to shoot himself with his own nail bullets, creating a spatial wormhole in which Johnny can hide in. These wormholes also allow Johnny's body parts to travel away from his main body and shoot his nails from better vantage points.
Finally, we have Act 4, deployed by Johnny accessing the ultimate Spin technique, the Golden Spin. Incredibly difficult to pull off, Johnny uses this gravity-defying Stand to defeat Funny Valentine for good.
This Tusk Stand Analysis was one that I had an interest in doing for a little while but I was worried how it would turn out considering there is a lot of information to research for this. Tusk ACT 4 is one of the strongest Stands in all of JoJo so I had to make sure I got everything correct.
Tusk Act 4 is also capable of doing the Ora Ora Stand Rush, which was an amazing sight to see. Tusk Act 4's Infinite Rotation is a super powerful technique which Funny Valentine was very lucky to escape.
This was a mammoth task to create a video based on Tusk, as I essentially had to analyze Stands in 1 video. I hope you enjoy this video. So, to put it shortly: Tusk Act 1 grants the user the ability to detach and shoot their nails Tusk Act 2 grants the user the ability to create pockets of nothingness by shooting a nail, so long as they spin their nail correctly Tusk Act 3 grants the user the ability to hide inside and travel through their pockets of nothingness Tusk Act 4 grants the user the ability to produce infinite rotational energy from their golden spin

joe the beast actually, no. Tusk is a stand that works with Spin, and the Spin won’t allow Tusk to hurt him like that. So he feels no pain when shooting his fingernails + there’s no blood, and no damage, either.

I personally think that if Joseph had practiced more with Hamon in part 3, Hermit Purple would've evolved a few times. Since the Spin is basically the new universe's version of Hamon, it'd make sense if every Hamon and Spin based stand was linked to it's user's skill in that power.

I love How Act 2 forces Johnny to have to be more calculating and cool yet allows him to be more aggressive with his attacks, and gives him brand-new drawbacks.

I think the reason Johnny's stand evolves is because, at the start of the series, he is someone who has the potential to grow personally. At the beginning he is immature and cowardly, but over time he learns the spirit of self-sacrifice, how to stand up for himself and gains a ruthless, killer instinct. His stand literally grows by learning new things about the spin, but it's growth also represents Johnny becoming mature and fulfilled in life

He always had a "ruthless killer instinct" though it was more likened to a dark ambition. In that dark ambition, he's willing to abandon everything, even his humanity, to win. Ringo only wants to fight those with a firm conviction or ambition to solidify his own existence and keep on the True Man's World. The man who used Civil War was only at risk of letting the Holy Corpse parts get destroyed. Johnny got killed by the stand user out of desperation to preserve the corpse, but Johnny survived thanks to the rule of Civil War.

Actually, Tusk only becomes fully loyal to Johnny at Act 3, hence the shriveled legs. Also, for Tusk Act 4, he doesn't have to ride a horse to deploy it. He needs the horse to do the infinite spin on the enemy. Johnny can still use Tusk to punch people. And finally, the Stands of the Boom Boom family are visible to non stand users because they attract fine iron particles, hence the black colour. Still a great video though.

@THEGREATMAX He does actually mention that part about moving slightly in stopped time but it's a very brief mention so I can see how that part could be missed. I actually had to rewind the video to make sure I heard him correctly haha pretty sweet though!

It moving slightly is a reference to Jotaro in part 3. The difference is, Tusk can move freely in stopped time. When DIO got close to him, he jumped back bc he realized it was still moving and was waiting to get him when he got close (like Jotaro did)

I think it didn't move as much as Star Platinum did because, unlike Star, it only follows Johnny's orders...but he can't exactly give Tusk any orders when he's frozen in time. Star Platinum, however, possessed some separate consciousness from Jotaro, so it could still protect him while he wasn't quite aware of what happened in stopped time. I'm probably wrong, though, so take this with a grain of salt

it isnt all that powerful. Just a automated long rang stand. We have seen many of those way stronger. Just because they made a story around this stand doesnt change its weakness. Original story had many stands way better than this that doesnt get talked about

I just realized that Koichi had the potential to unlock an incredible morbid and strong act 4, looking back his previous acts, he were able to influence people's actions by shooting words of thoughts from echoes act 2 and also was able to put increase the gravity on the oponents he touches with 3 Freeze. Man koichi might have been capable to create black holes from cheer gravity by just talking

Ahhhh this video solidifies my love for stands and why they're my fav power system. So much potential and strategy while also not being a power level type thing. Even when they get real wacky or don't make much sense, I still love them. You can also say so much about a character through their stands. Basically giving each character two character designs.

They're technically different things; I can't give an exact explanation so you should watch MetiNTBG's video on Gyro Zeppeli. (Specifically the last half as the first half is mostly explaining Gyro while the second half is explaining the 'stands' he gets as well as the Guardian)

Act 4 actually doesn’t even need a horse or a rotation to be used. It was used when johnny was knocked off his horse by diego and it chased diego in a tusk act 2 bullet hole. It was also used on a boat. Act 4 is mentioned to be infinite and it never ends until johnny wants it to end

Ever since Stone Ocean, Araki has been getting more and more complex with the stand abilities of his villains/heroes (Weather Report, Made in Heaven, Tusk Act 4, and D4C). And I really like it! They're so much more unique than the powers that characters in other battle anime series have. And it's crazy to think that Araki is getting these stand ideas just from subjects like math and physics!

a small mistake on how johnny got act 4: johnny obtained tusk act 4 by using a steel ball to forcefully make the horse reflexively kick johnny at it's natural state, as gyro knew that he couldn't use his horse to achieve the golden ratio, hence lesson 5.

One mistake people make is tusk act 4 can only be accessed by Johnny riding a horse. It's not the case, we see Johnny summon him while standing up in a panel when he is getting Gyro's body on a boat back to Italy. What those people are referring to is the infinite rotation. That can only be accessed by horse.

No if you read the arc you will know how in truth gyro managed to use infinity spin but because what funny did to steel ball it wasn't perfect spin any longer because of this funny survived. The thing about johnney using steel at his horse was to forcefully making the horse reach it's natural state where johnney can use it's strength to use infinity spin, later in the final arc you see how johnney not using steel ball to use tusk act 4 because johnney no longer need to do this he can use tusk act 4 as long he in his horse. A pity i wished if we get to know what complete ball breaker can do 😞
