About STAND AND DELIVER:
Edward James Olmos stars as Jaime Escalante in this inspirational true story about a teacher and the unmotivated East Los Angeles high school students who he inspires, badgers, threatens and humors into learning the most demanding of all math sciences--calculus. But the accomplishment is so utterly fantastic that the students are accused of cheating. Given a choice to accept the allegation or retake an extremely demanding examination to prove themselves, the students decide to Stand And Deliver.

I was in a newsagency watching the elderly manager going through basic counting wkrha confused young new employee - he kept saying incredulously: "this is primary school maths"! The school system is not doing their job if kids are spending all those years attending and not mastering basic reading, writing, mathematics, comprehension and some basic logical thinking skills and how to independently be able to learn new things.

This movie showed me I don't need the Public School system to educate me. As I went to the library to learn. And when I become an electrician. You learn this is where mathematics will increase your income 10x...So I learned it.. I never thought it would lead to physics..
