Seeing the students drill it and going over the common mistakes they make is very helpful for the viewer. Very nice.

That is an awesome move. Just took a Jiu Jitsu class this week and learned how to put someone in that restraint. Is very good to know how to get out of it. Thanks for all the help you give us beginners. Sure appreciate you!

I think if they committed to the double leg more it would force their partner to really have to sprawl more and then the technique can be more effective the guys just weren't sprawling to deep like when he showed the technique he would even tell them no go back to the sprawl

Like all the best moves in bjj, using a forced reaction to one technique (the sprawl against the double leg in this case) to leave you wide open for another almost indefensible technique (sprawl being excellent at preventing your opponent getting under you but has an extremely unbalanced weight distribution making it impossible to stop yourself falling forward if your opponent takes away your post). Obviously timing is critical and it needs to be performed before the opponent can shift his center of gravity back over his feet. Excellent technique!

The move is really good. Rather than focusing on footwork, some of the students need to "commit their hips" to help load their shoulders. That (might) help with the footwork part. Thats how Vasyl Lomenchenko moves so easily!

Kindly elaborate on NoMasChenko's footwork, especially with regards to "committing the hips". Thanks in advance.

@@meowmeowone8479 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fNB4lMid1LDag2Q.html If you look at the 2:46 mark he does an "L Hop". He is NOT moving to go around the person. The reality is that he moves in a single direction from outside the lead leg. The fact that his hips are primed means that he can simply lean in on direction (after the hop) and "appear" behind an opponent. This is what the students should be doing to release the pressure after the sprawl to avoid "circling" like the coach says.

Dan Severn could have used this in his loss by guillotine choke to Ken Shamrock, back in the day. Shamrock didn't sprawl, so the first technique was the one Severn could have used for a slam. I don't know, I'd have to see it again. Ken was pretty juiced back then.

What gives you the footwork is actually to think Pop the Head out. Not leaving the head in there for side position! The head going back is what gives you the pivot first!

Niice technique! I know this may sound odd, but it's my understanding that if you chase the opponent too far after you break free (I'm assuming they started the fight) and hurt him with a punch or kick, you will be the one charged with assault.

does this technique work if the guillotine is just on the neck, and my arm is NOT trapped, because it's not a wrestling fight, but a grappling fight?

What about the jumping guillotine? Shoudnt the left hand also be on the hip? I know it's kind of a different situation, but it follows from a possible answer from my oponent. Thanks a lot
