Wow that sounds incredible!! What is the name of this organization I would love to learn more about it we certainly don't have anything like that where we are!

my clinic is exactly like this ! not in a big building, as i live in a small town, but amazing none the less. they have iop programs, groups you can go to, NA, every patient gets assigned to a counselor who i see once a week. every patient meets with the doctor once a month. they even have little snacks n drinks out on a table on fridays because it’s football season in the usa right now :) my clinics called genesis treatment services, it’s in maryland. i’ve been to 4 different clinics, n this is the only one that i don’t feel shady going to.

Quit lying to yourself. If you are on methadone you’re still addicted and you should get off of it. A taper should not take more than 3-6 months otherwise you are just tricking yourself 😂

When I went to my methadone program today I thought they were gonna do a urinalysis so I held my piss in because they were about to close so I used the restroom after I got dosed but long story short I left my six take homes sitting on the sink. Hopefully a Nurse or Counselor found them since they were closing in 5 minutes anyway but if not what will they do, will they give me another weeks worth of bottles or what will they do I never even left there with my 6 bottles and they have camera's all thru the clinic??

That’s how they keep their “lifetime members” lol. 🤷🏻‍♂️☕️

at my clinic every time you piss clean you get an additional take home per week. (they only piss test you once a month). once you get to a weeks worth at a time, the next time you piss clean you’ll get 2 weeks at a time. then 3 weeks. then a months worth. i think they can give you at most 3 months worth at a time. it’s a pretty small clinic, which is i think why they can do it like that. and they make you bring a lockbox in and they need to see you lock the bottles up before you leave, and you have to bring the empties back locked up as well.

and everybody loves it haha. it rewards us for pissing clean, which in turn helps their reputation as a clinic, and us as patients bc, well, we’re clean haha

@@charlotte3damn, so it takes a month for you to get ONE DAY of take home?? So you have to go every day when you start out for like 7 months to even get ur schedule to one week…. That’s wild! I was going every 2 weeks but just switched to a new clinic and now at once a week, gonna try to go for monthly, it’s like every 4 clean tests ur schedule can be reduced by a few days/ week… the 3 months thing sounds awesome, I didn’t know u could go above once a month!

@@sophritoh i just hit 3 months w this clinic so i go monday wednesday friday rn and get take homes for tuesday thursday n the weekends. they’re closed saturday sunday so everyone gets take homes then, but yea :) it takes a while but 2 more months n ill b once a week n so ok from there

Typically no, you cant be prescribed it in pill form. Methadone can be abused and that is why they do a daily witness. Whether that is the best way to handle it is what is up to debate. I hope that answers your question!

@hardknoxtalks that's crazy to me honestly. You could still do drug testing and all that but making people go to the clinic seems wild. Alot of people on drugs don't have money for a sandwich, much less back and forth to the clinic. They should prescribe it in like week intervals. Then again, you're probably right. They would take it all 🤷

@@joshmartin7558 I agree with you, it is crazy, sadly there is no really simple answer but the full episode that this clip comes from talks all about the effacacy of take home pills compared to daily witness methadone. I could sharea link if you're interested.

methadone is a lot more controlled than other opiates that can be prescribed. it’s mostly due to the old stigma “drug addicts can’t b trusted.” you know us addicts, we’re not gonna take our medicine we’re gonna sell it. 😂😂 that’s sarcasm haha. regardless, a doctor needs a special license from the government to be able to give methadone or suboxone. that’s why a lot of the times someone who’s withdrawing will go to a hospital for suboxone or methadone, n be shit outta luck. you just have to hope there’s a doctor working that night with the right license, bc it’s not required for the doctors to get. they don’t get a higher pay or anything bc of it. and even then, the doctors with the correct license can only give 1 “emergency dose,” n they’ll just say you need to go to a clinic starting tmr. i was lucky, well kinda, when i was detoxing from fentanyl it really fucked up my heart, so i was actually admitted into the hospital. when you’re admitted into the hospital, you can’t leave until they decide you can. it’s only in cases like mine that they can give you multiple doses of suboxone/methadone. and still it’s VERY regulated. i think the rules were you could only get 7mg of methadone a day, and for 7 days maximum. after that if you’re still withdrawing, they’ll either send you to another hospital to start the count over, or they’ll send you to a rehab to continue the meds. the rehab is the same, there’s a limit on how many mgs you can be given, n if u need more oh well. once you’re out there is no way to get methadone unless it’s from a clinic. the hospitals can give you the 1 emergency dose if you miss a day. most ppl r blacklisted from hospitals by the time they’re thru the detox process tho, my doctor legit told me “this is the LAST opiate you’ll ever get from a hospital, so enjoy it.” i was pushed between 6 different hospitals before they got me stable, and that looks like drug seeking, and yea. the clinics are open really early (4/5am) so you can go before work, bc it is very inconvenient. some clinics have a sort of program where after you piss clean and stay in good standing with them for a certain amount of time, you can get additional take home doses a week so you have to go in less. i hope all that makes sense, i barley understand it myself 😅
