Yes. I will be grooving my tracks if they work good in the snow/ice and I would like a follow up video on dirt come summer. If you notice any extra wear on them. But I’ve got a skid that has dirt tracks and want to plow out our farm yard and if grooving a set of 70% dirt tracks adds a bunch of help to snow I’m all in. It’ll save me some money.

Hey Stan! I work at a fertilizer company and ran loader for them for a while before moving up in the company and we tried out the same one you have here I believe and it was a decent machine, but we ended up going with a Gehl 750 wheel loader. It had some more weight in the rear end so it had a better lifting capacity and felt more stable, it also is a faster machine than the kubota and the hydraulics are finer and more responsive. It also has more room in the cab, I found in the kubota I was hitting my knees on the dash plastic on the right hand side of the cab a lot and the Gehl’s interior (plastics, seat, etc) feels like it’s higher quality. I really like that Gehl and still jump in it when I get the chance. I’d highly encourage you to get a demo machine. I think you’d be thoroughly impressed and you’d enjoy running it more than the Kubota. Love the videos, keep it up Dirtmonkey!
@joelvollmer50832 жыл бұрын
Another thing I’d add is that the Gehl 750 is a hair larger than the Kubota but it’s very comparable to the kubota, if you’ve ever been in a fertilizer/commodity building you’d know it gets really tight in them. Also, that series of Gehl is made with the option of having a telescoping boom as well. Anyways, I hope you see this and look into a demo Gehl just for giggles, I know you love demos. God bless and go get em!
@Dirtmonkey2 жыл бұрын
you know what- thats on my radar now. I had no clue about those gehl loaders. Thanks for the heads up.

Very Nice loaders I use one to plow commercial lots works great for drive thrus and other similar tight spaces. (With the appropriate blade of course) comfortable as well. I want to see all the things. The knowledge that I get from watching your videos really helps me in moving forward with my own projects. I'm not anywhere near a business-level, I'm a homeowner. One house is in Minneapolis proper with city lots and sidewalks. I have a pretty standard walk-behind snowblower, and I do my best to not only maintain my own property, I take care of the street-facing sidewalk and a couple of neighbors that I have good relationships with. I also do small sections of the alley to help keep it passable, though I understand that the city is not amenable to that, and that some of the neighbors are getting upset because they think I'm piling snow against their garages (I'm not) and they're having water intrusion. There are also more complaints about the engine noise, but I strongly suspect that is coming from apartment dwellers and renters. That's a whole 'nother issue. I'd like to replace the snowblower with something more like a plow, or a bucket that can push or move the snow, but I'm not overly wanting to spend the deep-pocket money for something like a Dingo. The second house is a recent inheritance up in the Bemidji area. Right now I'm continuing the service that my Mom had that handles the basic plowing and lawn care, and that's been running in the $250-ish per month category. We're currently looking at keeping that property instead of selling, and with some desire to do some more in-depth landscaping, I'm starting to consider something beefier than a garden tractor that can handle some slopes (the house is on the river and the bank isn't overly friendly). While I'd like your advice and wisdom, I think I'm more complaining and jealous.

Stan, if you like Western snow plows I would suggest you try a Fisher snowplow they are built by the same company and in my opinion they are much more heavy duty, also it is much easier for the operator to mount the plow to the truck and I feel that it is a more secure mount. I have been plowing for over 35 years and have owned both Western and Fisher but now my fleet is all Fisher. Keep the videos coming and as always keep yourself and crew safe.

Hey Stan, For 3 or 4 years, I've been watching your snow removal vids... and for the life of me I can't see any "system" (method to your madness) that you guys use! No windrows, straight lines, nothing. Am I just overthinking it too much, and the name of the game is to shove the snow wherever there happens to be a pile? My feeble mind is confused! -GB&GG-
@Dirtmonkey2 жыл бұрын
there is a system for sure. all the snow has dedicated storage piles. The skids do details and corners when working in conjunction with a truck or larger loader. If no other equipment is present then the skids do a full push. We work in teams of 2-5 pieces of equipment. each team has a combo of skids, trucks and loaders to make as fast as work as possible.

Hey hey stan how are things going, its Monday,, the clocks have bee set forward, it was a really weird feeling waking up and it being pitch black in the morning, but it was nice n calm today, nothing out the norm, the school ground maintenance was outside using the leaf blower and so i watched them clear the sidewalk of mulch and debri and i tell you that, that stihl leaf blower did a good job, now i didn’t like that they had bent the end of the tub on the leaf blower and because of that, the air does come out faster, but it also puts more strain on the engine, essentially it wears the engine out quicker, something about the arodynamics of it. Today was a grea tho, it truly was, tomorrow is gonna be even nicer, it will be almost 65 here in jersey i will deffinatly be outside getting some work done around the house after I’m done school. Temps should be warming up near ya as well, so soon that mower reveiw for EGO will be out, that i what i will be looking forward to, i Ike their mower, and i tell you what the more testing we do with these sorts of equipment, the better it will get in the future, well stan, yo have a great night, god bless and go get em your pal and friend Alexander costa

If you were going to buy only one loader for snow removal, would you choose the SDLG or Kubota?

In a case of someone getting stuck , have you ever looked into using a kinetic rope ? It’s like a tow strap , but with a slingshot motion so there’s no hard jerking motion to each pull

I recently found out what that is and actually made a short video on it. Pretty awesome contraption!

Stanley, With tires look at Goodyear DuraTrac. These tires are awesome. They bite into the dirt when you are off road and they grab when you are on snow. They only slip when you are on ice. And any tire will slip on ice unless they are studded. Just be careful off road because they will dig into the ground very quickly. Last night before bed the video of when you were at the Kalfas tree climbing class was on. i watched it again and loved it. Watching you learn to climb a tree is a great video. You said it is Feb 22nd because of your anniversary. Happy belated Anniversary. You should take your wife out with you for snow and call it a date night. lol I will be up your way in about 3 weeks. I will be in touch before then.
