CRYSTAL CLEAR WATER! Black Grouper Fishing! Catch and Cook!

It was a slick calm day in Islamorada, Florida Keys so we headed out to the reef for some grouper fishing! We finally catch one trolling and he's a 25'' keeper! It was our first black grouper of the 2020 season. We also come across a pair of turtles mating and then drive by some big coral heads. Back at home we put the grouper on the Traeger Grill for Dinner! Enjoy!

I was raised in Miami and now live in Kansas but have been going to Bud& Mary's since 1962. The fishing is great on the ocean or bay side, spear fishing and lobster fishing can't be beat. Check it out and stay in one of the house boats or rentals you won't be disappointed.

That clear water reminds me of where I grew up, in the Philippines. Dad served in the NAVY and I was there for about 6 years of my adolescent life. We would go out to the Caponi Islands, just offshore from San Miguel Naval Housing Base and the water was always clear like that. So beautiful!

Here's a little grouper throat trick. Steam them until done, let them cool and pick all the meat off. Get a good crab cake recipe and use the picked grouper in place of the crab. IT'S AWESOME, works with any good size mild fish, snook, red fish, red snapper.....

Nick, try the throat meat side down first. This way you can peel that liner off then when you flip it then put the seasoning on. I do the same thing with the bluefin tuna and California yellow tail that i catch.
