Dale Earnhardt had three different Newell Motorcoaches during his career. This one on display at the IMHOF is a 1994 model (built in 93) was his first of the three Detroit Series 60 powered rigs. His second Newell was a 1997 which you may have seen on the channel before. The third and final one was a 1999 which still resides at DEI today. Newell Coach is the premier manufacturer of custom built luxury motor coaches based in Oklahoma. Every unit is made to order and custom configured by the owner. In the case of this stellar rig here with an absolutely gorgeous paint scheme....it packs a punch with some serious 90s style inside you will just have to see for yourself! If you find these rigs fascinating you can check out the "Newell Stuff" playlist for more! We actually have a 1996 Newell originally built for Al Unser Jr and later owned by Robby Gordon. Every Newell has a unique history!

My first experience with Dale was at Michigan in the late 70’s when I was leaning on the door frame at the garage where we had dropped off a set of connecting rods to Junior Johnson! I spotted this woman about 25 feet away and could not take my eyes off her, when Dale comes by and sees me looking this woman over! He got that shit eating grin on his face and asked me what you lookin at! Just smiling away! I nodded at her and he says you know her, I said no but I’d like too! He calls her by name, Linda I about died cuz I knew what he was gonna do! Lol she comes over and introduces us! We spent the next two weeks together and were married 4 months later! He was a friend ever since! I miss his genuine personality and his country wit! When he died a piece of me died also! Thank you to the two of you for another kick ass video!

I have a bad experience with Dale at Sears point as a kid in early 90s, I dropped my sharpie while trying to get an autograph from him and he got mad and let’s say I didn’t get my autograph as a kid. I just figured he had a bad day, and caught him at a bad time. I never dropped another sharpie when asking for autographs, he taught me a lesson I never forgot.

I'd say we got matching personalities. I was born in 98 so I was a month away from turning 2 when Dale died. But when I was able to watch all of his old races and home videos and stuff learned 98 was his only Daytona win, I instantly and ever since felt a connection with him and anyone associated with him

Wow, very similar to mine (Or how mine was before I renovated it. The circular wine glass holder next to the sink doubles as an a/c vent which guides the air through the cabinet and into the valance above the entry door. My Amana fridge works, but I am pulling it out in favor of a newer more efficient model. If you want any parts, let me know. Mine too has had a hole drilled between the handles for a lock of some kind. We keep a thick rubber coated twisty on it. My spirited driving has had that thing fly open many times! Bedroom is very similar to mine except my closets and storage is better laid out. Bathroom is the same as my '93. The entry to the bathroom on mine has a door like this one but swings and latches to close off the commode and goes the other way to separate the kitchen from the bathroom. Thanks for posting! I'm glad I got to meet Dale when I was younger. He came to the Chevrolet dealership my Mom worked at and signed and visited with people for quite awhile. As a kid I remember looking up at him and feeling impressed and intimidated by him at the same time. We had almost everything Goodwrench put out with a 3 on it. We got so much stuff signed. Years later my Mom told me he was kinda flirty with her.

Love your videos like this - and you are correct “ who the heck gets mad at a Buick.” That motor coach is a time capsule to 80/90 styles. Love the teal carpet inserts.🤪Also what doesn’t say I won again like a circulator champagne glass holder- Love it or hate it that thing would be great !

Selling an exact copy of this made for one of Earnhardts friends, owner of Frieghtliner, if anyone is interested. Low miles, engine rebuilt in I think 98'. Carbon copy but with custom freightliner wheels. One of the only timed in Newell history two were built to the same spec. Ours was also the 1994 Newell show coach.

Hey Guys! I love that this was Dale’s, to be honest I prefer yours! We’re bumper towers now but some day! You have sold Joe and I on a Newell, since he is an electrician I could put him to work on all of the little fixes that seem to always creep up. Love what you guys do and hope your had an awesome Thanksgiving and a very very Merry Christmas! If your ever in Oregon and need a place to get out of the rain let us know!!

Hey brother. This is no lie. I dated this girl from North Carolina and one time her parents owned a marble granite company called Faison Marble and Granite they did the Granite floor in the lobby and hallway of Dei when it was first being constructed. Now I'm not kidding it, I have original photos 35 mm of the Prototype Pennzoil number one car that was supposed to be Steve parks and it was still in primer Gray. Have pictures of the will be or would be engine shop and R&D department.. this was given to me by the worker that was allowed to take pictures at that time before d i was what it is today. The senior was still alive but he wasn't on site. I also have photos of his game room. You must have about 50 or more whitetail deer heads on his wall. I kid you not brother. This is awesome that you are doing what you do. I can't thank you enough.

I know the semi manufacturers had 60 series Detroit's starting in mid year 93. It was billed as "revolutionary" improvement over the 6v and 8v engines. I bought 10 92 and 93 trucks from a fleet and they were a mix of 8v92s and the first series 60s..

In terms of Newell Coach manufacturing it’s very rare to see a series 60 coach this early.

Could it have been a custom spec? I know the fleet I bought those trucks from always ordered their trucks "Owner Operator Spec" which basically meant all the bells and whistles..

The Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine started being manufactured in 1987. Roger Penske acquired Detroit Diesel in 1988 and nearly all of the semi-truck manufacturers then began putting them in their trucks. Penske was a long-time customer of Newell, so they started putting the Series 60 in their motor coaches. Many of the people in racing had Newells and Penske's reputation and sales pitches caused many to equip their Newells with Penske's Series 60 engines. I worked for Penske and Detroit Diesel from 1988 to 1992. A lot of famous people/celebrities came to the Detroit Diesel factory in Romulus, Michigan because they had the Series 60 in their motor homes...such as John Madden and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas...Justice Thomas spends every summer driving all over the U.S. (he has a U.S. Marshall with him at all times...)
