That black edition is super nice! I have the white and green one and this mount is super dope! Love throwing my Sony A7R IV on this thing!

A scale as Kamil Pekala has cobbled together would sure be nice...helpful when trying to locate targets in the night sky.

Can I use a canon 5d iv with this set up

Yes definitely. The limitation will be in using telephoto lenses that are long and thus impossible to balance. Use Polemaster attached to the front of the mount for polar alignment. The alignment should be done with the tracking off and after the Polemaster routine gives you the alignment complete message go to the Home Position and engage the clutches on both axes. You are now ready to expose your camera. Use Live View for accurate star focus and Manual setting with a cable release or remote shutter release to open and close your shutter.

@@dankahraman354 You can use a long telephoto lens if get a long quick release plate and a quick release clamp. This will let you slide the camera to wherever it will balance. The real problem with long lenses is star trailing, but this can be overcome with autoguiding so long as your polar alignment is good (the SAM console app is a lifesaver in this regard). At 200mm w/ autoguiding I get a 0% rejection on my 4' exposures. Your mileage may vary and a lot depends on how long of an exposure you want/need. At 1', you could probably get good stars at 200mm and decent pics to boot without guiding. I use an older camera though and have to work a bit harder to overcome read noise, so longer exposures help.

@@TylerMillhouse I am using a 600mm f/6.3 Tamron monster tonight. It is on a Vixen dovetail and I have a guide scope with a guidecamera with a Synta style adapter on the hot shoe

@@dankahraman354 Awesome! I am hoping to photograph the Cygnus loop tonight with my vintage Takumar SMC 200mm f/4---weather permitting. I also have that camera/lens on a vixen dovetail since I wanted a clamp that could hold a small telescope as well.

@@TylerMillhouse Encountered problems with the monster. It is flexing or sagging where it is mounted onto the camera adapter. I thought it would be smart to mount the telephoto lens rather than the camera body. Something is sagging even though I did an excellent PA on the mount with Sharpcap. Go figure! And for some unknown reason I am not being given access to input the parameters of the T3 sensor so I cannot do plate-solving with it this time. Last week I had no trouble plate-solving with ASTAP in APT. I am getting gorgeous shots with the 50mm Sigma Art at f/2...20 second subs at ISO 800. It is a modded camera. Just gorgeous shots!

Costlier hobby device

If you could just climb into a time machine and start astrophotography as a hobby in 1970. You'd find yourself tearing apart the best clock you can find and turn it into a star tracker. This device is basically a fancy clock motor with computer controls. Worth it? Yep

It's an expensive hobby regardless. This is probably the best value tracker out there given it's ability to use small telescopes and autoguide. The skyguider pro is also good but it is more expensive and the declination bracket is worse.
