You have two types of weapons on the ship, with two different projectile speeds. The Badgers' projectiles go at 1400m/s, and the tarantulas' projectiles go at 700m/s. Since they go at different speeds, the angle at which you need to shoot for them to intercept the target is different. This is shown as two different pips, one for each firing solution. The one closer to the target (the short pip) is for the faster projectile, and the one further away (the long pip) is for the slower projectile. The badgers are gimballed, while the tarantulas are not. You can see the gimbal reticle chasing the short pip, because that's the pip for the badgers. To hit with the tarantulas, you need to aim your nose at the long pip. If the short pip is close enough, the gimbals will aim the badgers correctly while you focus on the long pip for the fixed guns. This has its uses, but most people would just not mix projectile velocities and keep it simple. But if you do mix, you gain flexibility. The gimballed repeaters will do short work of anything small and agile, while the cannons will give anything bigger and more sturdy a rough time. The bigger and slower your target, the easier it is to aim both weapon groups too. Now that I've said my piece, I'm going to go put 8 cannons on mine, while practising my evil laugh and moustache twirling.

I still remember the invictus video you did a little over year ago i think, where the FC8 was on display and you went on about how much you wanted to fly it. being able to fly it now is just insane. I've wanted this ship for 2 years.

I hope it does not get nerfed, especially this soon. It is a military heavy fighter brought down to civilian level. It should be very good at what it is specifically designed to do.

Beautiful ship, I know many many of us have been waiting a long time to get our hands on it. I think the timing was perfect, great event leading up to citizencon! They need to do more in game events like this one.

The UI has been improved. For one thing they've changed the default HUD colors for all Anvil ships from that ugly green to a cyan color. They also aligned all of the drop shadows to prevent the HUD from getting washed out in a bright background. And lastly, CIG is not about to allow their graphics to get stale, they make improvements with every major patch.

I hope there will be a ship one day that I'll be as excited about as you are for the F8C Lightning. Looking forward to seeing it fully customized.

I love the fact it’s quiet, for immersion there should just be a slight whistle from the engines and the weapons should be more dull/distant sounding. I saw a video a while ago where a guy put his own sound in and it’s incredible

As much as there were issues and community frustration with some updates, I really do feel like SC has never been greater. Fighting fans might say so for a few years back, but there was no flat year for SC.

Lol, "months" - that's a baby timescale for us early SC backer. I've backed this project since 2013. Instantly fell in love with the look of this ship in 2018 when it was first introduced. Up until now, I've been adding up to my pledge, to over $7k now, was going to get it the concierge way... but now BOOM it's here, "only" for $260. That was the fastest $260 I ever spent in my life, lmao!!!

The badgers are on special gimbal mounts, the wings are fixed, thats why you had a hardtime hitting with both, switching of gimbal assist fixes this.

I always wanted this ship, I always thought it was great, not exceptional but great, while pretty much all other fighters were just "good" at best in terms of design. What I didn't expect was how much I would end up liking the ship, the way it flies, the sound, the speed, the range, the firepower, the cockpit, the headlights... I am pretty sure it is going to get "trimmed" in at least one way but there are way more things on this ship I like the design of than I do on other fighters.

I love doing bunker missions so I got a ticket within a couple hours of playing after the start of the golden ticket event. Melted a ship I thought I'd miss to get the lightning and I couldn't be happier that I did, I have almost died of thirst a couple times since getting it since it's just so enjoyable to fly around and blow stuff up or even just to fly it, that I forget about my character. Agile, good shields and packs a punch as well as absolutely gorgeous *chef''s kiss*

The engine thing is a bug I've had many times before. Gets fixed if you turn engines off and on again.

I love the way the F8C flies. I was practicing using my flight stick and dragging wing tips on NB's frozen lake. Unfortunately I'm garbage at PVP and ship combat in general, so I'm going to save the $200.

Damn, I really feel lucky! I really wanted the ship literally like 6 hrs before I got It! I knew about it but wasn't really worried about it until I heard about the golden ticket. I run 4 distortion repeaters on the wings and 4 gimbled attrition 2's, this loadout slaps harder than Will Smith at the Oscars!

to change missiles, head out to open area, expend missiles, get back and do not rearm, the store ship and change in the vehicle menu in moby. I'm running all repeaters with Rattlers on mine

Have you thought of using a Tobii Eye Tracker? It does make looking at the different displays in your ship as easy as just looking in that direction. I have heard you can set up guns to track to it also, but I have yet to try that. It does take a little to dial it in when you first set it up, mine was making me a little nauseous (I don't normally have motion sickness issues) until I finally dialed it in.

There's a small chance that C2 was me in my loaner C2 moving stuff up to the station lol. Was in the same spot when I went up and an F8 was flying around and buzzed me right as I jumped like that lol. I mean the odds but it was all the same. Kinda cool.

I am so in love with the f8c. It's so fun changing the weapon loadout. It dominates pve. Maybe pvp too, I just don't do pvp in flight too much. I am using 4 laser repeaters and 4 distortion repeaters at the moment for big pve fun.

i think it says a lot about Chris and CIG’s commitment to Star Citizen that some of the oldest designs in the game are still some of the coolest. Design-wise, the Hornet, Gladiator, Gladius, and Lightning all hold up against everything else.

They did adjust the cockpit HUD, especially the QD HUD. The engine sounds bug out much of the time though.

Thanks to Griffin Org who helped me do Bunkers for I suck at FPS. Sir Balrog found the ticket for me and gave it to me, so I could claim my F8. They tweaked every aspect of the UI with building blocks. Not sure about the MFDs, for they still look mostly the same.

I think that the balistics are supposed to be used on larger targets while the badgers are your main options to deal with fighters

There is a way to get 10 s2 weapons on the f8c - rocking 10 s2 gatling guns just melts everything.... it's amazing! :D

As for heavy fighters i still prefer my warden over anything (the size 5 laser cannon is just too good) but this is a dope ass ship.

this ship costs the same as the carrack after taxes lmao. i love how it sounds and handles but seeing cig ask $450 Canadian kicked me out of the impulse buy and the funny part to it all is this ship isnt even feature complete, no dash lights and it has missing sounds that are coming in a later polish. I think I read that the golden ticket makes this available for you to purchase for $270 real world dollars. I thought that I also saw a video claiming that the ship was nerfed just prior to this golden & platnum ticket jazz.

I miss the head tracking in your videos, it gave them a certain sense of personality to them when you were talking and I could tell what your body language was by the head movements or tracking a ship..

I wish I could afford to buy this after I got the gold card however real money's really tight right now. It would really suck if you paid 10 or 15K for this thing only to see "mere mortals" get them like candy now. I hope you can buy these later with uaec later. And if you have to wait until squad 42 they DON'T NERF THE CRAP out of it which will probably happen because they'll probably make a better and more expensive fighter to top it etc.

i hate the Side Burns and the fact that they move for landing for no reason (its to get in, really then why is the other side moving too). also even tho the ship is powerful being nerfd from the military version, it just looks to fat for so small of a loadout. I think it should still have the 2 S4 but many the turret is replaced with fixed mount and gimbal is a military only option ( also PTU version has been nerfed already. was told it has s1 shields now)

The F8C is kinda broken in that it makes a LOT of other ships just pointless. It'll be the meme. Even the little things like it's a "heavy fighter" but... it has a size 1 QT drive? Why? That just means it can QT 3.5 times as far on the same fuel as a Warden. It does EVERYTHING better than a Warden. It's not a balanced tradeoff, it does EVERYTHING better. The Scorpius has half the firepower and is slower (but a little bit more maneuverable) (And it has that super small QT drive for some reason too, but that's balanced by a small QT tank and only one size 2 shield)The Ares is less maneuverable, with less range and less speed (but it does have it's one trick pony gun...which can't really dogfight with) The only fighters that can outmaneuver it will have half the shields and half the armament... everything else it can outmaneuver and outgun. Granted it's low ammo count, but you CAN put 10xballistics on it and do more frontal firepower than a Connie Andromeda.....

I'm hoping I can get one myself, but I haven't played the game since CIG released that travesty of a patch 🤬, I absolutely love the idea of a ship having EIGHT guns under pilot control, as well as being a nimble and maneuverable heavy fighter that flies like the Arrow, BUT make no mistake the F8C is going to get NERFED, because its current performance is BASED on its existence as the HERO ship of a SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN, its suppossed to be OP in a SOLO campaign, however having that kind of performance on a single ship on a MULTIPLAYER environment is going to just destroy every other ship that flies against it, its going to be NERFED hopefully to have still a bit of an advantage but lets hope CIG DOESNT NERF IT TO THE GROUND in a hasty response to comments.
