I'm a new player that didnt read much when getting this intricate game... The one thing that I notice about this ship is that when a friend and I were doing a mission and I almost got shot down, I tried to land. Close to the ground I got shot again and the ship crashed upside down... With the ship completely inoperable but still intact, I was now stuck inside the ship... Since the cockpit is 3 stories up and we normally use the elevator to get there, I was trapped inside the upside down ship because I couldn't climb out. My buddy had to finish the dogfight, fly back to repair his ship and then come back and bump my ship over so that I could get out... This is a huge design flaw--there should be a way to get out of an upside down ship if the elevator stops working (like let me shoot through the glass or kick it out.) if there is a way out and idk b/c I'm a new then I'm all ears, but yea. That happened to me last night

I bought a Syulen, not as a starter ship, as I don't need one, but as a long range touring ship. For me the Syulen beats out the Origin 300i as a luxury touring ship. I do plan on swapping out some components, especially the quantum drive for a more efficient one to extend the range. For a starter ship, at Tier 1, I recommend the Drake Cutter Scout or base Cutter. I agree that the Avenger Titan is a definite step up from the Tier 1 starters and a better choice than the Syulen for most people, as you pointed out. The Nomad is the best Tier 2 starter for those who are looking to go the cargo carrier or mining route as it can carry a ROC if memory serves me correctly. The biggest takeaway for me about the Syulen release is that we are seeing so many choices now for starters. All we had when I joined the game was the RSI Aurora and the Consolidated Mustang, of which I chose the Mustang back then. Now, each flavor of starter ship brings with it certain compromises and play styles. While I have never loved the "flying brick" (the Aurora), it has the advantage to this day of working as a snub ship for a Carrack or Odyssey. So as a Carrack owner needing crew I could hire a noob with an Aurora and have them bring it along. You definitely cannot do that with a Syulen.

This. A friend of mine who was considering upgrading to the 300 series got this instead. The Syulen is the sort of ship, like the 300 series, that you buy because you want a starter ship that you enjoy looking at and living in, which offers all the basic living necessities. The Cutter or Avenger might be better, with capacity to carry vehicles, but the Syulen is a work of art to enjoy flying around in.

That lack of an FPS weapons rack, and the Titan's abysmal atmospheric flight, are what sinks it for me compared to the Syulen. When the Avenger line gets a pass that brings them up to current standard, and we get control surfaces, my opinion will likely change. Right now if you can wrap your head around landing on your back and not your butt, it is a fantastic little ship for doing a lot of the starter path game play loops.

I already did. Been following Star Citizen development for years, and after the recent tech demo CIG released I became interesting in actually playing the game. Once I saw a review of the Gatac Syulen featured on a youtube vid, I paused the video, and went to go pledge for the first time for this awesome looking ship.

My Reliant Tana fills a similar role for me, some cargo, other gameplay loops available, bed, fun to fly, transforms, is a huge target (lol).

Titan and Syulen have the exact same capacitor and same amount of shots with 3 Panthers, with a Rhino on the Titan you get slightly more dps, but less shots in the mag. While the Titan is a great ship, I have to wonder if you even take the Syulen out and put it through it's paces in PVE Ship to Ship Bounty Missions, I'll take the Syulen over the Titan for those any day of the week and twice on Sunday. It flies beautifully, super nimble and agile and a really stable gun platform. I was easily chaining VHRT's effortlessly and endlessly, never losing shields once for hours, I was quite surprised how well it maneuvers and flies with it's 24 thrusters, it flies better then it looks on paper. The only thing it lacks is the ability to carry a vehicle, and the way it carries it's cargo is a bit limiting. It's styling and landing/take off are of course different, and either you like it or you don't. Personally I really like the uniqueness of it. With it not being able to carry a vehicle, if you like to do FPS missions, it would be hard to recommend as an only ship, other then that it's a sweet flyer!

The only Syulen I've seen in game was a dude trying to take off for the first time in a hangar, he slammed into two walls and quit out of the game lol. Very cool ship though.

Good assessment. I would only add to it that this is likely the ship for you if you want to explore, having the best range by far. The weapon rack and suit locker being strong adds as well.

If you're comparing ship DPS it's a lot more helpful if you give both ships full laser repeaters and set power to max weapons in order to get that evaluation of DPS, because that's a lot more of a realistic use case than comparing stock loadouts or balanced power management.

One thing to note about the Suylen is it’s thrust. It can pull a lot of G’s, at the level of a combat focused light fighter (I’m pretty sure it pulls more G’s than the Arrow).

at 1:39 I bought it at its warbond price as my starter package and it came with Lifetime Insurance and the white camo. Is that just because it was my first one? I also bought the warbond starter pack for the mustang alpha afterward and it only came with 120 month insurance? is there a way to get LTI on cheap ships after I already have the base game without constantly buying starter packages that come with the base game included in the price?

i went up to hrt with it in balistics , recommend deadbolts canon, tarantula or those litle railguns works nice too, els there is the tavarian canons at microtech for lser weapons, works realy nice! if u go balistics you will much less drain ur power

Can you trust that qt fuel on ships to be representative of how its gonna be in the future? the F8C Lightning has 2.5k qt fuel for example and I don't think it's supposed to be that long range?

I had the Aurora Starter Pack, then upgraded it to 300i. If I upgrade to the Gatac Syulen, will I get the lifetime insurence as well? or just the ship with my old starter pack features?

question? i got the syulen at IAE but ii only got 6 months. swear ive always gotten 10 months all my other ships are 10 months cause i always sell my ships at iae and rebuy so i cant get the extra insurance but this year i cant get 10 months, did they change something ?

The syulen can take you any where. And if you wanted to live in the ship as the game seams to be headed that way id say it has more use than the titan.

I just don't like the internal design in that it has that weird third floor the only purpose of which is to give access to the pilot chair. I would of liked to see the chair itself be the elevator in a way. In that it operates as a small pad when moving from access to habitation but morphs into a chair as you get moved up into the actual cockpit area. This would also very much speed up the process of entering and flying in a time critical situation, even if only in perception. What I do love about this ship in the way it is structured is it gives me a little bit of an Expanse vibe. The direction you are going is "up", thrust is "gravity". And this ship is built in a way that kind of leans into that. So I can see this as being some kind of advanced human made ship based off of protomolecule tech. It doesn't really make sense, argument wise. But it is what it is.

I love it and how neat the inside is but it's too small for me inside tbh so I always feel too crampt. Also having to always focus on landing x10 more with its unique land system just decided it wasn't for me. Cool ship though. I'll probably buy it ingame someday.

Wish it had more ALIEN tech....like new shit altogether and all around....since it lands like that and its standing......itd be cool if it had different equipment you could just put on the ship to make it perform differing tasks while stationary on the ground....a giant gun turret emplacement, a shield generator for the surrounding area to a degree, but really.....i want to see this style of ship used as a deep mining platform. Its the spider miner precursor...

I love the look of this ship, but it feels more like a novelty than a practical performance ship. The weapons are nice, but I'm unsure of how well it performs in dogfighting.

Personally, I think the Cutter is the ultimate starter ship. Not great in combat, but even with better and more focused ships in my fleet, I still use my Cutter every day. It's such a good shuttle.

Syulen is hot ship rn. Nomad would be better option and its only 10$ diff. and you are getting same weaponse, better shields, smaller ship, bigger cargo area, ramp and tractor beam. And you can use all these stuff from your pilot seat without needing anyone else. Syulen is pass for me.

Both yes and no for me. No because I don't want to spend too much money on this game. Yes because it's offered with a lifetime insurance right now. That's a killer deal IMO. Even if I die 1000x in this game, I would never be worried about anything.

@@zauzydumpling9942 Having an insurance policy for a ship in Star Citizen means you will be able to replace it if it gets destroyed or stolen. Most of the time, they only sell ships with 6-12 months of insurance. After the insurance period has expired, you may be able to extend the coverage on your ships. Should you lost your ship after the insurance coverage has expired, it will be gone forever. Having a lifetime insurance for a ship means you will always be able to file a claim to replace your ship without having to pay to renew your insurance coverage, only the costs to file the claims. It's kinda crazy considering that you paid them with real money. Losing a digital asset sounds like a joke. But if you're looking to get into the game, the current Syulen game package is around 73 USD, the price of an AAA game. It gives you the game and this ship with lifetime insurance. Not sure why many missed the fact that the Syulen is offered with Lifetime Insurance though. This is the only package currently available that I can say is "worth" the money if you're interested in the game. Looking at what they have shown at CitizenCon this year and how incomplete everything still is based on their own words, keep in mind that we probably won't see the finished game in the next 10 years.

@@zauzydumpling9942Right now it does nothing. Eventually players will be able to insure their ships by paying a small amount of in-game money on a regular basis. The devs have repeatedly stated that they don't want these insurance premiums to be that expensive, it'll be like insurance for your real world car. But there may be other costs in the future (e.g., a deductible, optional fee to speed up claim processing, delivery fee, insuring components or items the ship was carrying, etc.). The idea is for losing a ship to carry some sting, but you still get at least the standard model of your ship replaced so long as you pay your insurance premiums. When ships are first released, CIG will usually offer them with Lifetime Insurance (LTI), which basically means you'll never have to pay the in-game insurance premiums... but that's it. All the other costs and time sinks are still to be dealt with in-game. People obsess of LTI, and many will use it as a selling point for reselling ships on the "grey market" (3rd party websites)... but it's honestly not a big deal. It's just one small future in-game money sink that doesn't even affect us for the foreseeable future.

cant help feel that the Syulen was kind of an internal test for the designer, to see if they would be the one(s) for the BMM. some of the design lines, surface texture and general flow feels Banu to me

DO NOT BUY THIS SHIP, its a cool ship and beatiful but if thats all you want to get out of it dont buy it. It's weapon system is weak samething with shields, and finally the ship although cool has a very impractical landing and piloting system. Although if you only want it because of its beauty or aesthetic go ahead. If you want a better starter ship get a cutlass black or a space penguin.
