@@StoneCoolds Yeah! Other games, you play for 3-5 years max and ditch it. I paid 60$ (I think) and this game just continues to expand and grow over the next ten years. Since when have you got so much for your money? Oh And I only bought one ship and work for the rest. And I also get SQ42 for those money... Until now I have had more than my money worth of playing and it has basically just start to really go forward.

***** I think this thought has occured to many people throughout all the centuries of mankind. I would have loved to visit the ancient Greece or Rome or jump into the future and see what mankind's status is there. But I'm still quite happy about being born in the first place. :p And Star Citizen is such an utterly unique project and so ambitious that I wouldn't want to live any other time possible. This game is so fascinating, watching it grow and become more epic and immersive every day, being a PART of development...I wouldn't want to trade that experience for anything else. This game is gonna kill my social life. xD

Son Goku It's impossible to do this sort of thing on a console, they just can't handle it. Not only that, but they'd make you pay a subscription fee. Star Citizen is a one time purchase (unless you want to buy another ship or upgrades before the full launch). You can get a full game package for as little as 45$ right now. After going and trying out Arena Commander myself, and looking through the full scope of planned and suggested features, I personally feel that this game is worth far more than what you're going to pay for it.

CyberPunk cost 315 million, had over 5000 staff and took 10 years from active development to being in a playable state. Active development for SC started in 2015, with 100 staff, now 330, and has cost around 200 to 250 million. This applies equally to S42. Everyone claims its taking a long time, but considering CyberPunk was a single single player game in a single city with no spaceships or procedural planets CIG have actually done incredibly well.

+payz hayz This is a unique situation honestly. Chris Roberts is a veteran video game developer, AAA games do take 5 years and millions to make. Most companies want to make money as a priority, so they focus on making sure that their game will be available on console because that's where most of the money is. PC is the ultimate platform, but it's the most restrictive. Star Citizen has a unique crowd sourced format which is helping it continue development and they are doing a successful campaign to let backers know what is going on to keep the money trickling in as they continue to develop this ambitious game. In any case, it's great that we live in an age that allows something like this. If Star Citizen is successful or delivers on 80% of what they say it'll pave the way for other veteran developers to run a similar model.

Imagine you are in a convoy of three moderately armed cargo ships. You're drifting through an asteroid belt crew members talk of your luck being able to go through your journey unharmed besides a scuffle with a couple small bandit ships. The conversation dies down and everyone is silent.Out of the corner of your eye you see something so you glance over and see 5 small ships peel off of an asteroid and hover.Maybe they are lost or one of their ships is damaged and they need help maybe they think you might be pirates. You see no major threat so you look away they're following you but your gunners do not dare fire incase they are friendly.Your pilots tries to open up comms with them to ask what is going on.There is no answer.Your pilot being a sensible man speeds up and changes his course slightly. They can't really kill all of you but your 2nd ship in the convoy has a bit of damage from the previous fight. You turn back to get a better look at the enemy when suddenly two more ships appear just as the others. The danger level is heightened you decide you should man one of the turrets. You climb into your seat and ascend into position. When the camera display turns on you cannot believe your eyes...There are 7 new ships in front of you.You shout out to your fellow crew "Get ready!" Your Captain bellows "Someone get to turret 3 now we've got company!" You are sandwiched between three large asteroids and the ships draw near you begin firing at the enemies ahead.Your convoy dives down to get more space to maneuver.Your ships are at top speed now all crew members are doing their jobs and it looks like you might make it out alive. You are so focused "one ship down two ships down" you are snapped back into the awareness of the rest of your crew."The captain is yelling "4 and 5 look front!" You know you shouldn't but you steal a glance and see a massive asteroid flying towards you that you can't avoid. This is the end...And then it splits in two gunners 4 and 5 managed to blow it up just in time. You immediately turn and begin firing on the enemy ships again. Someone yells "P-9 is lost they took too many hits to their thrusters." P-9 had valuable cargo and you can still turn around to save it the 3rd ship in your convoy changes course 3 ships give chase. You here members of the 3rd ship yelling "What are you doing P-10 is still back there together we can save-Comms cut out. P-9 is drifting helplessly but one turret is still firing they still have hope. There is only 5 ships left and you've only lost one turret when suddenly 3 more ships curve around an asteroid. You are severely damaged now and they are closing in you stop firing...

But even today April 3rd 2019, Even the most powerful gaming PC you can make won’t even be able to play this game smoothly once it releases. But that also makes me smile. Because I know once this game finally does release, it’s going to be absolutely incredible. Whether it’s another 5 years from now or 10 or whatever. This game is going to be one that will be remembered for a very long time in the future.

5: Cockpits should be customisable with your own stickers and fuzzy dice and other personal objects. Heck even a picture of your loved ones sitting on one side would be great for immersion. 6: A cockpit should feel cosy and personalised like it's your own room/car. But you'll need a window to the outside universe. Maybe like inbuilt radio stations to listen to and an ingame voice messaging system for you to communicate to friends while listening to galactic radio.

Matt Norris To be exact he said that they might/they probably will add an option to turn off sounds in space. The lore is that the sound is generated (in the ship/helm) for the pilot to get better situational awareness.

Are you able to command a fleet of ships in this? With like AI that does what you want them to do like launching fighters to attack incoming enemies etc.. or are you just a little ship owner flying about doing that if you choose too?

These graphics from 10 years ago have more detail and space looks so much better than Starfield, which people are fawning over. I would have been fine with these graphics but the game looks incredibly life like now.

Please pass my compliments to Chris Roberts for having the passion and drive in order to make this happen. I think it's brilliant and exciting that he is supporting the Oculus Rift with Star Citizen. The reason he is building his game with the Oculus Rift in mind is because he is most likely very eager and excited to experience his own creation in the most immersive way possible. Regards. All of the ships are supposed to be capable of atmospheric flight, which is why many have wings and if not, then they have large fans for landing in atmosphere. Also, the wing trails IIRC are actually exhaust from the thrusters used to control rotation and such but they turn on when accelerating too. You would want all available thrust to accelerate, no?

Forget your monitor, forget your TV, forget your projector screen. Star Citizen combined with the Oculus Rift is going to change the games industry as we know it. Console kids are going to pee themselves in excitement and cry because they can't experience it. People that had no interest in games are suddenly going to be interested. Even your grandmother could get hooked. This amazing revolutionary experience is not that far away. This is pure immersion of which a tv or monitor could never offer.

This looks amazing - with so much potential. I've been a console gamer most of my life but with the silly politics and terrible management of the next gen I'm really starting to consider coming over to PC gaming. Especially with titles like this. I like the idea of the pirate selling ships to the pilots very cool! ;)

Hi, just been imagining what it'd be like piloting a fighter in real life in space if it were possible. Firstly: 1: The cockpits ingame look too shiny. They should suffer from wear and tear like dust and scratches on the panels over time which require cleaning. 2: Flying into extremely cold parts of space should cause your equipment to begin malfunctioning. Eg. frost gathering on information panels etc. making it harder to read vital stats.

JD Brock I tried playing EVE but it's WAY too confusing. It just thrusts you into the world. The tutorials, maps and everything is overwhelming. I want to enjoy it but it's not friendly to newcomers and that makes me sad.
